We had a great stay at La Fortaleza de Haro. As an artist, I appreciated all the unique touches and design. As it borders, the National Park, it was a quiet respite after a day of touring or being in town. There’s plenty of outdoor seating areas and a refreshing pool to relax at. Only a 10minute walk through town or can take a taxi for $2. There’s a locals beach 1/4mile away near the Darwin Research Center. The included breakfast was a great added value: eggs, fresh juice, a roll or croissant and coffee which we looked forward to. Not to be missed is the heart and soul of the operation, the kind owners Gianna & Roberto who live on the premises. They helped us book day trips/excursions based on our desires & needs & their recommendations were spot on 10/10. Roberto is a retired naturalist/guide and I wish had recorded his descriptions. For us visiting new places, exploring landscapes, and seeing new cultures are a big part of why we travel. But there is more to the story than just these three things. It is also about the people we have met and the connections we have made. Travel is more than just destinations; it’s about the people we meet. I’m so glad we made a connection with Roberto & Gianna and cannot wait to return to experience more of their homeland. We will return! Don’t hesitate to book & stay here

Gorgeous property that is family owned & operated by the sweetest people! Very clean rooms & refreshing pool, comfy beds, & really unique property! The fresh baked bread with fresh juice or coffee for breakfast was very yummy! We will definitely be back!

We loved our stay at Fortaleza de Haro. We had the tower suite. It was lovely, but looked like the other rooms were also nice, and several have other little decks with a hammock. The is also a nice common area with hammocks, a pool table, and a small but nice swimming pool. A very charming place in general. Gianna and Roberto were lovely hosts, and very helpful. Gianna helped us find what we needed in town, how to get taxis, etc. There is a cheap laundry place nearby, we were close to many restaurants and everything downtown, and local taxis within the town are only $2, set price. The hotel is right next to the national park, so the tower suite has views over all the treetops. Really nice! Breakfast was good too.

Probably not possible. We stayed in Fortaleza for 5 nights . We stayed in a small hut ( room) for 3 people . This room was probably used for storage or garage before but then was refurbished . Tiny bathroom . The court yard was quite dark in the evenings so we thought it would be good to have a bit more light to make it cozy. Linen and towels were clean and you could refill the water from the purifier . Breakfast was sufficient and we loved the bread but same every day. We also thought that breakfast could have been served earlier than 7.30- most people are gone for trips by then . If one has to accept cookies or crackers as a substitute then better to cut it off from the price . Plenty options on the Main Street when one is on the move and needs to grab a cup of coffee. Location is good and peaceful . On a general note - with so many people arriving every day this tourism is not sustainable . There is a lot of pressure on environment and wild life. But this is our personal opinion.

We stayed here for a few nights in one of the rooms by the pool with the downstairs living room. The bed was about 18 inches away from the stairs to the basement - felt unsafe. From the other side of the bed I could literally reach into the bathroom - we had to shimmy sideways to get into the bathroom. The bed was hard and the sheets well worn. The sofa bed was equally uncomfortable and the AC blasts down on it. The room and bathroom in general were well worn. The owners were friendly enough but often shifted guests into various rooms to accommodate others. The pool and breakfast were good. Overall, the pictures are much nicer than the actual rooms. From the other reviews it sounds like the suites are lovely. Location was good, quiet and a short walk to the centre but I would not stay again because we were so uncomfortable.

We stayed here for 3 nights. It is a nice place to be with a little swimming pool so you can cool down. The building looks very nice even as the room. There is hot water in the shower. The breakfast is good and enough. The place is very quiet. The personell is very kind.

When visiting Galapagos we spent 4 nights in this great place. The hotel is on the outskirts of Puerto Ayora, on the border to the National Park but a walk to the town's center and the harbour takes maybe 10-15 min. The owners, Roberto and Gianna, lovely people, make the stay very special, offering loads of advice, recommendations and help in getting a taxi or booking a tour. We had a Sun&Moon room which turned out to be a great, double story, very comfortable room with two private terraces (one more shady and one sunny above our room with beautiful views to the sea, the park and the town. Roberto even put big umbrellas for us to protect us from the equatorial sun. We loved our stay and the owners and are very grateful to Gianna and Roberto for making our time on the Santa Cruz island so unforgettable!

This is a homely environment. Robert designed a fort which has rooms to rent. His wife Gianna takes care of the guests. They live on the premises. The whole family is very blessed and it was pleasure to meet them. The room on top is the one you want reserved. It has amazing views of the bay and surroundings areas. There is a terrace and good size bathroom and beds. We were at the smaller room first near the entrance which was very small and uncomfortable for 3 of us. We upgraded. There is a pool to swim and Breakfast is a treat presented in the courtyard. It is only at 7:30 am. Gianna is there to chat with us. She is very particular and caring. We had bread, butter, jam, fresh juice, eggs and chocolate. It is a 10-15 min walk from town. A pleasant experience.

We stayed for 5 nights here, 3 nights in the Tower (Sun & Moon) suite & 2 nights in the Quadruple Suite. We arrived after a horrendous ferry trip from Isabela. We were exhausted, sweaty, stressed, and sore. When Gianna greeted us & showed us through the gate, it was like arriving at an oasis. The lovely pool beckoned us, the shade cooled us, & the birdsong soothed us. Gianna spent the time to explain the hotel to us (breakfast, water, etc.) & give us suggestions for meals and activities. Our rooms were clean & well-equipped. The tower suite was wonderful, with two decks & lovely views. The quadruple suite was comfortable, with a cushioned bench in addition to the beds. We had fridges & access to purified water from the dining area. Showers were large with plenty of hot water & space to dry bathing suits. The pool was a lovely temperature--cool enough to be refreshing, but warm enough to want to stay in the water for a while. Breakfasts were delicious, consisting of eggs made to order, croissants, fruit, juice, & coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. The hotel borders the national park, & is visited by birds and other creatures. If you are squeamish, be aware that you will likely find geckos & large spiders in your room. The information card explains this & asks guests not to harm these, as they control other insects. I did wish for screens on the windows, as we also had wasps & the odd mosquito. But this was a minor issue. Overall, we loved our stay here and would definitely return.
