Hotel Beatriz Playa & Spa

We had a great family vacation! :) Our girls had the best time of their lifes! Swimmimg, eating, dancing with the mini-disco, it was great! Jady and Merel were there to help everybody, they were so kind! Good job, girls! Loved the fresh food, we liked the vegetables and the meat from the grill. It was delicious!

It was a very nice hotel. Jady's friendly welcome was always pleasant! Beautiful and spacious rooms. Excellent food. Always enough space by the pool.

Hotel is a bit dated but our room was clean and spacious with a sea view over the swimming pool. Had a few problems sorting our bearings out as its a very large hotel. Sometimes all inclusive food gets a bit boring but not here, as the good food was excellent. Staff are very polite and helpful. Entertainment was mainly kids orientated and the bar is in need of a refurb. Good ammenities near by and on the sea front. A special thankyou to Merel who does an excellent job looking after guests. Would definatley go back.

I came away very disappointed with my stay at the hotel arriving around 8.30pm we settled into our room to find a completely empty mini fridge not even complementary bottles of water provided. After asking for a kettle at reception our next task was to go shopping for bottled, water milk etc to make a cuppa. The next problem was the scarcity of power points in the room to use the kettle. one in the hallway one at each side of the bed and one hidden in a corner behind the curtains. To use the kettle we had to unplug the telephone because we soon found out most of the sockets were not working, so don't expect to charge phones or other devices easily. The beds were adequate and the room clean but the bed settee was so worn out it wasn't really useable unless you are used to sitting on a sack of potatoes to watch the TV which by the way had as it's only English channel BBC World news. Next morning we went for breakfast which turned out to be barely warm we ate out for dinner on the first day. Our 2nd breakfast was even worse the only thing half hot being sausage, beans cold, scrambled egg some sort of yellow mush floating around in a tray of water, bacon cold, German sausage cold, mushrooms cold. If you didn't want the English brekkie the fruit on offer was tinned pears, peaches or pineapple, the apples and oranges were fresh though but tinned fruit oh dear. Tea and coffee pots stained black on the inside do the ever get washed? That was enough for us we ate out for the rest of our stay the thoughts of another meal in this hotel had us both feeling queasy. Generally the hotel was poorly signposted inside, quiet a few said they didn't know where they were going for a few days. Although clean the general state of the place was poor with crumbling concrete on the balconies with rusty rebar showing, crumbling plaster around cracked patio doors which looked to have been poorly maintained. AIr con with more rattles than a rag n bone man's barrow, no chance of sleep if turned on more than half power, so overall not a hotel I would return to or recommend to anyone it may have been four star 30 years ago but is now well past it's sell by date and needs a huge refurbishment.

It was my second visit to the Beatrix Playa & Spa hotel in Matagorda and I enjoyed it. My room No. 2001 was fabulous with a lovely sea view from the balcony... The staff were all so dedicated & courteous... At the evening dinner I was welcomed especially by the man in charge "bon appetito" & a pleasant girl called Jady. The food & drinks were adequate for me especially the free wine!... I had a few swims in the heated outdoor pool & used the Spa also ... I understand there was upgrading work in progress but it didn't affect me... I would certainly return to Beatriz.. Gratias!
