Wir haben direkt gebucht, auch den Transfer von San José. Schwierigkeiten gab es bei der Bezahlung. Das Hotel wollte den Gesamtpreis 7 Tage vor Ankunft in 1000,00 USD Stückelung (!) abbuchen, was aus Sicherheitsgründen zur Sperre der Kreditkarte führte. Sehr ärgerlich. Lage: Das kleine Hotel liegt wunderschön alleine an der Playa Punta Uva. Schöner Garten, sehr grün. Links am Strand vom Hotel aus sind Felsen im Wasser mit TidePools. Sonst kann man direkt vorm Hotel Baden gehen. Da kein weiteres Hotel in der Nähe ist, ist der Strand recht einsam. Ist die Brandung vorm Hotel zu stark kann man nach rechts zum Punta Uva laufen (15 min). Dort ist der Stand geschützter aber auch durch die Flußmündung und einen größeren Parkplatz mit Geschäften (Kiosk) belebter. Restaurant: Das Essen ist gut bis sehr gut, die Speisekarte ist relativ klein und wird nicht gewechselt. Da die meisten Gäste nur kurz bleiben ist das o.k. Es wird ein 3 gängiges Menü angeboten, man kann aber auch nur Teile wählen. Ist man länger zu Gast, werden Sonderwünsche berücksichtigt oder alternative Gerichte angeboten. Nachfragen!. Wasser ist kostenlos, die Getränkepreise recht hoch. Bei gutem Wetter auch die Möglickeit direkt am Strand das Dinner einzunehmen. Romantisch aber Insekten. Bungalow: Wir hatten einen Ocean View Master Bungalow. Sehr schön mit Blick durch den Garten zum Meer. Die Klimaanlage war leise. Sehr großes Bad mit 2 Duschen und Badewanne (!). Der Innenarchitekt hat etwas zu viel Wert auf Deko gelegt. Wenig Möglichkeiten seine Garderobe unterzubringen. Wir haben den fahrbaren Ständer für die Handtücher von der Terrasse in das Bad geschoben, um mehr Möglichkeiten zu haben. Service: Sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ohne Auto nur für Gäste, die es ruhig haben wollen und dann kaum Alternativen in der Nähe zum Essen zu gehen. Tuktuk relativ teuer.

I didn't have accommodations here, but I spent a day on their beach. The Coco Loco drink came out in a fun Monkey ceramic cup, so I ordered a few for the photo op (need to order a double shot because you can't taste or feel any alcohol). We ordered some food and spent the day on the beach. This was the only place I saw a sloth in it's natural habitat!

We had an amazing stay at Awa. Keep in mind it's in a jungle setting and right on the beach, so the ocean roar is constant as is the sounds of the jungle. The room was amazing with an outdoor shower, and a very private deck to hang out in. The service was exceptional, Dinnier, Ricardo and the rest of the staff took amazing care of us, going above and beyond on a regular basis.

This beachfront property is nestled in the jungle with regular wild animal sightings like monkeys and sloths! The staff anticipated our every need and the room decor and layout was superior! This was a magical trip

What a beautiful peaceful place! Just spent three days and nights there and loved every moment. Rooms are amazing, great design and high end furnishing. Breakfast is just lovely and the beach is steps away and just beautiful! We swam, we snorkeled at punta uva arrecife and our final dinner was at aWa right on the beach. And we also saw multiple sloths :-) We will be back!

This is a review for the restaurant. The food was bland which is not atypical for the region unfortunately. The squid and octopus in the “seafood bucket” was very chewy , not in a good way. Lovely view. But the service was abysmal. A staff member talked loudly on speakerphone. Although there was only one other table occupied, things proceeded at a snails pace. After our waiter took our dessert order, much of the staff decided that would be a good time for a meeting and we had to flag a manager down 1/2 hour later for the dessert and the check

The whole experience at the aWa Hotel was amazing. The only point I would make, regarding the facility, would be the Parking at the Hotel. Management had explained that they were working on trying to improve that access and ease for the customer to park their vehicles.

This is a truly lovely adult-only beach hotel. Small, intimate, wonderful attentive staff, good food and drinks, right on a terrific beach and less than a kilometre from Playa Punta Uva, undoubtedly the finest in Costa Rica and one of the nicest in the whole Caribbean (not white sugar sand, but makes up for that in terms of its beauty and warm crystal waters). Only hassle is the hotel shares access with the public beach and (especially on weekends) it can be difficult to negotiate the parked cars to get to the hotel. Very nice rooms, very clean. Great value.

What a perfect place! It’s really well located on Punta Uva beach which is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Caribbean coast. The staff are lovely and really welcoming, they do everything to make you feel good. It is continuously cleaned, including exterior spaces. This is one of the places where we have observed the most animals!! We were treated to two sarongs, howler monkeys, Arras right outside our room. We took the ocean view and it was really great! The decoration of the room is magnificent, we loved it and the bedding was of very good quality. In short, it’s perfect!
