The Ibis - Wilpattu

This was our first stop for 2 nights on our trip to Sri Lanka. It was an amazing start to our holiday and the setting was absolutely perfect. Our host was extremely welcoming and the service and food were impeccable. The rooms were comfortable and the surrounding areas were great for bird watching and outdoor dining. Anyone visiting this area should definitely look to stay here as we would highly recommend the Ibis lodge for everything you want in a stay.

We were made to feel so welcome by George and his team. Our first stop in Sri Lanka for a couple of nights. The location is fabulous, waking up to the sounds of different birds and watching cattle in the lake whilst we had breakfast under the tree. The lorus walk was fun. Comfortable and clean rooms with wonderful sri lankan hospitality. :)

Just wow! What a place! This is not a luxury hotel - it's more of a wildlife paradise with a family feel! We were there as a couple but we felt like we were embraced by Shervonne, George and the boys as family! She was happy to wander with us and look at the birds on the lake and in the woods behind us. They were all as excited to show us the natural wonders around them as we were at seeing them. Food was served under the trees in front of our room and was all delicious local fare. We were served coffee before 5 am for our early start and were given a fabulous packed breakfast and lunch - an absolute feast - for our safari. Thank you to the team who were so fabulous!

Situated by a lake covered in water lilies, this was a haven of peace. The room was comfortable and clean, with seating outside. Meals were excellent and all the staff, especially the owner, were incredibly friendly. We went on a guided night walk around the hotel and the hotel was a good base for exploring Wilpattu National Park where we saw elephants.

Our host was very charming and made our stay as comfortable as possible. Meals were served out of doors in the grounds overlooking the lake. The food was delicious and the varied.

What an amazing place sitting right next to the lake. We had a fabulous time. Just the right place to be to visit the National Park where we were lucky enough to see a leopard. Shervonne and her staff are fantastic they cater to your every need. The rooms are lovely and clean, the food exceptional. I’m not keen on spicy hot food so she made me individual meals. We joined the search for the Loris which was quite illusive but we found one. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

Amazing place to stay. There were 10 of us and nothing was too much trouble. We only stayed one night. We would all have loved to have stayed at least another one if not two more. One is definable not enough. A delightful lunch was served for us when we arrive very hungry. The food at every meal was 5* and everyone (including fussy children) was catered for. Dinner was set in the grounds with a lovely real wood fire. Wonderful atmosphere. We were off early in the morning for a Safari and tea was served for us on the veranda at 4.45a.m.! The best tea l’v ever tasted. Our breakfast was waiting for us on return from our Safari. We were very excited as we had had an exceptional experience with a leopard. All the staff were lovely and the service was excellent. The rooms were beautiful and the soap and shampoo was certainly well above the standard normally found. Such a great start to our holiday and set the bar very high. Can’t thank you enough Shervonne. Keep doing what you do.

So peaceful by a beautiful lake. Shervonne and her team made us feel so welcome and even prepared special gluten free meals for me. Room was basic but clean and the view was amazing.

What a delightful, tranquil location looking out over a beautiful stretch of water filled with beautiful lotus flowers and water lillies that attract a wonderful selection of birds and other wildlife! Rooms are comfortable and spacious and kept scrupulously clean. You're immediately made to feel relaxed due to the warm welcome from the hosts. The breakfasts were so tasty and seemingly endless; dining by candlelight in the grounds very romantic. Our hosts were very friendly and attentive to our requirements; and keen to share their knowledge of the area without being intrusive. Thank you so much for making us so welcome. We hope to return to Sri Lanka and would definitely plan to spend more time at The Ibis Lodge. Thanks for making us so welcome.
