Shanhaiguan Fulinmen Hotel

The hotel is quite spacious and has convenient parking. The city wall is right across the street. The rooms are nice and roomy. The hotel also hosts local banquets and is only a 5-minute walk from the ancient city entrance.

During the National Day holiday, the price was comparable to guesthouses in the ancient town, but the facilities were much better, and the breakfast was good. The service is definitely worth recommending.

The first to third floors house the restaurant, while the fourth to sixth floors are for hotel accommodation. The restaurant is quite spacious and serves excellent food, so breakfast was also good. They offered tofu pudding, milk, soy milk, and stir-fried dishes with meat, and I even got to try stir-fried pork liver. There's a private parking lot in the back, and the security guard was very friendly. The downside: looking at the photos, the bed and bedding are definitely hostel-level, and the towels are old. This definitely doesn't justify the price of over 400 (stayed on September 28th)!

The hotel has a rather old-fashioned vibe overall, but the room cleanliness was acceptable. The main issue was that the mini-fridge was completely useless, which meant I had to throw out milk that had been in there for hours. Also, for a family room, they only provided two pairs of slippers and a very small amount of toilet paper. These small details show a lack of thoughtfulness.

An older hotel, but the facilities are still complete and the room was pretty clean. You can't expect too much from an old hotel. It's best to take a Didi (ride-hailing service) from the station; don't just jump into a shared ride, you might get ripped off. It's just outside the city wall, and I personally think staying here is more comfortable than inside the wall. Among the performances, only the iron flower show is worth seeing, but you absolutely need to get there early to secure a good spot, otherwise, you won't be able to watch. The commercial streets are all pretty much the same!

The hotel's hygiene was good, and the service attitude was excellent. The front desk staff proactively upgraded our room when they saw we had two children. The hotel food was also quite good, very tasty and clean.

Right by the ancient city, this hotel offers convenient parking with slow charging stations, making it extremely EV-friendly. We booked a twin room, but the hotel thoughtfully upgraded us to a family room. The room was spacious and very clean, with complete amenities (even a drying rack was provided). This is definitely our top choice for a road trip, a real hidden gem!
