Dom Jose Beach Hotel (Plus)

Very good 3 Star Hotel with excelent location to the beach. Good Breakfast and Dinner

We love this hotel the food is amazing, all the staff are very friendly. You get well looked after. the hotel is on the beach and it is worth a sea view. Can not fault this hotel we try and go 3 times a year. Always returning to this hotel due to amazing Service.

I loved my solo trip. I felt safe and welcomed by staff. I was well looked after.

Pros - lovely clean hotel with friendly staff. Food in the snack bar was very good and reasonably priced compared to some of the food outlets in the surrounding area. Particular thanks to Antonio and Andreas who worked very hard and looked after us extremely well when drinking in the bar. Cons - rooms are quite small. We had a sea view with balcony which was on the first floor and although you could see the sea we had a lovely view of the roof of the snack bar. Suggest requesting a higher floor. Now to talk about sun loungers and pool. The sun lounger / pool area is clearly not big enough to accommodate the amount of guests staying at this hotel and you are packed in like sardines. Do not be fooled by the promotional pictures as it does not look anything like that. To add insult to injury if you want a sun lounger on the hotel beach area at the front of the hotel you have to pay for the privilege even though you are a guest at the hotel. It is 14 euros for two loungers and a small shade and 17 euros for two sun loungers and a large shade. Solo travellers are also made to pay the full price and anyone who is not a guest at the hotel can pay 15 euros for two sun loungers and a small shade. I do think that as the hotel are more than aware that there are not enough sun loungers for their guests some consideration should be shown to the guests who are forced to take up sun loungers on the beach and the charges need to be revised to make it more fair for paying guests. Because of this we would not return to this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Dom Jose for one week with friends. Hotel was very clean, rooms quite small but comfortable enough. Restaurant breakfast and dinner food okay. We were surprised at towel charge, we paid 44 euros for two towels for six days but only got back 20 euros which was the deposit. Other hotels we have been to charge 20 euros but get it back at end of holiday. Also charge for sun loungers and brolly on Dom Jose beach was 12 euros and increased to 14 euros on 1st June. Would have thought loungers would be free as there were no loungers available at pool as some guests had put towels down to reserve but management allowed this practice. We had a lovely stay nevertheless as location was great.

The Hotel was just great. From the Rooms to the Staff and de Food and Drinks. Everything was to our liking and we can only recommend it to everyone!! It’s only 27 minutes per Car away from Faro Center and you can do amazing Day trips from the Hotel. We really loved it :)

We were on the seventh floor of this lovely hotel, without a balcony but the view wasn't too bad - at least we didn't have to ask where the bus station was as we could see it out of our window. The view from the fire escape was amazing though -we found this out as the hotel doesn't supply anywhere to hang wet towels to dry (even if you have a balcony) so we used to hang ours of the fire escape in the evening, so that they were dry for the next day. The room was very nice, comfy beds, clean and tidy, with a little fridge so you could keep things cool, a safe which was free to use but didn't come with instructions - we figured it out, there's some sort of coffee machine that you put capsules into - again with no instructions - we tried it but it didn't look like any coffee that we had ever seen that came out of it, so we asked at reception for a kettle, waited two days of our 6 day holiday and ended up asking the maid, then we got a kettle plus 2 mugs on a lovely little fixture with 2 tea bags, 2 instant coffee sachets, 2 coffee creamers, 4 sugars and 2 stirrers which was great because there was only 2 espresso glasses before with the coffee machine or 2 water glasses. There was a huge tv on the wall above this, which had their advertising running on it every time you put your card in for electric, we didn't use it apart from that as we were on holiday. There's a chair in the room also, various drawers and 8 hangers on an open wardrobe. With a shelf above. The sunbeds are actually wedged together, some with a table in between but with no room in between otherwise. They have signs up everywhere saying that you can't reserve beds, but everyone else does exactly that and no-one enforces it either. The bathroom had a nice shower in it, but the grout needs a jet wash, there was a nice basin too, a few little shelves. We had to keep asking for clean towels and they finally changed them the day before we left. The breakfast was amazing, so much choice, if you can't find something that you like from the choices on offer I would be very surprised. The real downside to the hotel was when we were leaving, we were being picked up at 4.20am and breakfast was between 7.30am and 10.30am daily, so we asked if we could have our plastic container filled or half filled with fruit similar to what was on offer for the breakfast. They told us no, but we could have a packed lunch! What they gave us was:- a doorstep sandwich of ham and cheese, two different cakes, a big apple, a 50cl bottle of water and a 200ml juice box each, unfortunately as soon as we got to the airport to go through security the water and juice had to be dumped, so to us that is such a waste and we would have been able to take fruit through with us, maybe the hotel can re-think what they give people at that time of the day to take with them. We would recommend this hotel, as it is very central for everything and just across from the beach too, although we did think when we arrived that we had come to

Excellent hotel, lovely spacious bedroom & bathroom. The food was excellent & there was great of choice of drinks from a lovely Bar/Lounge. The Beach was 20 yards across the prom. We enjoyed our stay so much we’re already planning to go back next year
