BreakFree Queanbeyan

Queanbeyan|1.62km from Crestview Tourist Park
We stayed in a family apartment for 2 nights during July winter school holidays. There’s 2 adults and 2 teenagers so the bedding configurations was perfect - 1 Queen bed and 2 single beds (on a separate room). I booked directly with the hotel by calling them as I tried to book online but it kept asking me to book 2 rooms which didn’t make sense and the rate was cheaper directly over the phone with the hotel. Our room was on the third level but it’s ok theirs a lift for luggages. The main area had lounge (new and firm), queen bed, dining table for 4, kitchen, large TV and split Aircon/heater. The mattress of our bed was worn out as it was sagging badly in the centre. I raised this with reception at check out and she said she hasn’t had any complaints about the mattresses but will pass on my concern to management as she said all the mattresses was also changed when it was renovated a few years ago. We stayed in room 56 so if you don’t like saggy mattress request not to stay in this room. I would have rated our stay 5 rating but our mattress was a let down. The separate room had 2 singles beds (mattress was perfectly firm), tv and own split heater/aircon system. This room was good as my teenagers could have their own privacy. Bathroom was good, shower pressure was great. But they had a small gap on top of the window so it was freezing in the bathroom in winter! I understand they did this to prevent steam and mould forming in the bathroom but there’s already an exhaust fan which was doing it’s job so this made the bathroom too cold when door is closed. Hot water was plenty and never ran out when we all showered and washing the dishes. Kitchen amenities had the minimal requirements and was sufficient for cooking. Towels and beddings was high quality and I was surprised with the thick nice quality of the towels. It was even better some of the more nicer hotel we have stayed in the past. Eateries, woolies/Aldi was just around the corner and walking distance. Bought some fried chicken from Kingsley Chicken - that was yum. Our favourite restaurant is Lolo and Lola Restaurant at Watson (20 mins drive) - booking ahead is a must. While in Canberra the teenagers enjoyed the Segway Glide Ride and great timing Christmas in July (food truck etc) was near Questacon. We also did a day trip to Perisher - left the hotel at 6.30am and arrived just before 9am at Perisher. Request for later checkout was granted till 10.30am.. I think reception staff should be provided/wear uniform to look more professional. Oh yes we also could hear other rooms footsteps early in the morning even we were in the top level.. not sure if it was the room next to ours. I would stay here again but will ask for a room with better queen mattress lol.

Hamilton's Queanbeyan Motel

One of the better motels we've stayed in. We had a ground floor queen room which was absolutely spotless, well appointed and had with a very comfortable bed. Everything worked and our room was made up daily. Originally, we were looking at other motels in Canberra itself but decided on Hamilton's based on price, reviews and proximity to the city. Other motels were more expensive and some were even charging overnight parking. Though this motel is on a main road we didn't hear the traffic at night. Hamilton's would be our first choice when visiting Canberra region again.

My husband and I stayed here last week. I contacted them with my concerns before I wrote this but heard nothing. The bed was so firm/hard! that we both had trouble sleeping it was so uncomfortable and hurting our hips. There was an alleged quilt/doona on the bed which almost had some filling i.e. a casing that was virtually empty, so not at all warm. There was only one spare blanket in the cupboard. Asked the cleaner for another blanket next morning, and went shopping for a mattress topper to soften the bed. ( We had already paid for the following 4 nights. Sadly we won't be staying here next time we visit the area. Also the bbq advertised needs feeding dollars. Remote check in so nobody ever onsite for any problems.
Grand Manor Motor Inn

If you like looking at yourself in the mirror, this motel is for you. Apparently lots of mirrors are a decoration feature at this motel - there were heaps of them in the room I stayed at last year and plenty of them in this last room. That bit of weirdness aside, this is a great place to stay. Friendly and very helpful staff, really clean room with all the necessities, and an excellent breakfast included in the price. Good stuff. The only other things I'd mention is that the place could do with some maintenance (a tap was broken in the last room, and a drawer fell off its runner in this one), and the air conditioners are rather dated. They work very well - no complaints there - but they're rather old-fashioned. Overall, though, I have no hesitation in recommending the Grand Manor Motor Inn. Unless you have a problem with mirrors.

Well cared for, exceptionally clean and great value for money. This budget motel was surprisingly good with friendly staff and great amenities. A good low cost alternative to pricier accommodation over the border when visiting Canberra but just a few minute’s drive away.

Clean, friendly and well-organised. A lovely stay, peaceful surroundings. We stayed in a 3 bedroom cabin with 4 x teenagers plus 2 x adults. It was spacious and clean, and more modern than I was expecting. The pool and bbq areas were well-maintained - the heating in the camp kitchen was a plus! Will stay again.
