Mövenpick Queenstown

An absolutely terrible hotel, highly NOT recommended. The location is up on a hill, not in town, about a 20-minute walk down. The room type we booked was completely different from what we actually got. We had to switch rooms three times, and only got the correct room type by the morning of the second day. We came here for a vacation, not to move furniture! On top of that, the Indian front desk lady who checked us in had an awful attitude and was impossible to communicate with. Secondly, the room cleaning was very poor. We found several long strands of women's hair, which was disgusting. The room lighting was dim, and the Wi-Fi speed was incredibly slow. The first night, the Wi-Fi on the second floor was okay, but on the fourth floor, it was ridiculously slow – I couldn't even load WeChat Moments (as for why we had to switch rooms, well, the hotel was just being a pain). The only consolation was that the hotel's daytime view was quite beautiful, but overall, it didn't make up for the disgusting hardware and service. Seriously, avoid this place. If the prices are similar, I'd recommend staying at Voco or other newer hotels in town; they offer a much better overall experience for about the same price.

This is a great hotel with beautiful views as soon as you open the curtains. It's a convenient 20-minute walk to the town center, and easy access to the steamboat and cable car. The beds are large enough to accommodate four people in one room.

The front desk service was excellent, very polite, and the breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious – absolutely perfect! Although the location is a bit far, it's actually very convenient to get around by taxi. It's relatively quiet, and the views are beautiful too.

Strongly advise against staying here, they'll steal money from your card!!!! **Facilities:** Pretty good, the bathroom is spacious with a separate wet and dry area, and the shower has enough room to turn around. Hot water is plentiful. **Cleanliness:** Average. We stayed for four nights straight. When housekeeping came to clean, they'd put our clothes directly on the blanket on the bed. That blanket probably gets kicked onto the floor by guests while they sleep, so suddenly our pajamas felt unclean. **Environment:** The view is beautiful. The reason I deducted half a star for this category is that it's located on a hill. Every day when returning from Queenstown, we had to climb a big, long slope. So, we'd have to walk down and then take a taxi back up. However, because of its elevated position, the views of Lake Wakatipu were even better. So, the scenery itself is very good. **Service:** AVOID AT ALL COSTS! No matter how good the view is, I would never stay here again. We stayed for four consecutive nights, and on the third day, at around 2 or 3 AM, an unauthorized charge of over $200 suddenly appeared on our card!!! There was no card activity from us. We were terrified when we woke up the next morning. This is absolutely credit card fraud, and I strongly advise everyone to avoid this place! We hadn't used that card for anything other than the security deposit, so they must have saved our card details and then somehow charged it! We immediately went to the front desk when we discovered it in the morning. They said they would process a refund, but it hadn't been refunded by the evening. We talked to them again, and they mumbled among themselves before finally saying it would take 5 business days for the refund to go through. Seriously? We'll be out of New Zealand in 5 business days, and if they don't refund it, we'll have no way to pursue it. If it weren't for the language barrier, we would have started an argument already. We even considered calling the police, but we probably wouldn't be able to explain it clearly in English. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Daily housekeeping is thorough, and the bedding is soft. Some room types feature panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing you to enjoy the stunning lake and mountain scenery without leaving your room. 4. **Self-Drive Friendly, Hassle-Free Chain Management** Free parking is available (though spaces can be tight during peak season, so arrive early). The spacious lot can accommodate SUVs and RVs. It's a convenient 5-minute drive to Queenstown town center, with easy taxi access. Being away from the town's hustle and bustle means quiet nights without the noise of city center bars. The 24-hour front desk can assist with luggage storage and activity recommendations. Although the hotel's decor is a bit dated, the location is truly excellent. It's a short drive to the city center, and if you want to go for a morning run, the surrounding environment is absolutely refreshing and uplifting!

Room service was excellent, and the bar and restaurant were great too. The front desk was very responsive. The only minor issue was that the signal in the room wasn't very strong. But the view from the window was fantastic! I'd recommend it. Overall, it's really good value for money.

Mainly located by Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, the scenery is absolutely stunning, and the service is incredibly attentive. They even made sure we had a lake-view room, so we could wake up to beautiful lake and mountain views every morning. It's also only a 30-minute walk from Queenstown town center.
