Socialtel Quito - Formerly Selina Quito

This hotel is closing but still taking bookings. When I arrived, I was told the power would soon be shut off. The hotel felt abandoned—no other guests, minimal staff, no breakfast, and none of the listed amenities were available. I left after one night due to the uncertainty and lack of security. Very disappointing and misleading.

I DO NOT recommend staying at Socialtel Quito. When I arrived, the staff informed me that the hotel would soon be without power. The place felt like a ghost town—nearly empty, with only a few staff members around. None of the listed facilities were available, and breakfast was not offered, despite being advertised. It was clear the hotel is in the process of closing, yet they are still accepting reservations without warning guests about the situation. The uncertainty and lack of security made me feel unsafe, and I decided to leave after just one night. Travelers deserve transparency and basic services. This experience was disappointing and stressful. I hope others are warned before booking here.

Horrible. Do not trust this place. We reserved a room 3 months in advance and then at check in we discovered they sold our room away. To make things worse they offered a room in an "extensions of the hotel". This was not an extension. It was a student hostel that they tried to put us in. The room they showed us was a small attic above smoking students. They expected us to pay full price. Terrible customer service and morals. It is good that we didn't stay because we have heard that the hotel rooms smell bad, don't have WiFi, and that the staff steals jackets. Do not stay here, there are better hotels in the same area for the same price.

Weirdly strong smell of gasoline throughout the property including in the bedrooms, particularly at night, when we enquired a staff member advised they were trying to cover it up with air freshener but offered no explanation. After going out for the day we returned in the evening to find our room was unlocked and wouldn’t lock, appears it had been that way since the maid had been into clean. We alerted the front desk and were understandably annoyed that the room had been left open all afternoon, the staff member was unapologetic and dismissive, after checking the lock he informed us the hotel was fully booked (not true as we checked on ***********) and that we would be expected to pay the difference to move to a suite with a working lock. Obviously this was an unacceptable solution, in the end we managed to move rooms but the complete lack of customer service, absence of any form of apology and also the inconvenience of having to move our belongings part way through a stay ruined our experience.

Stayed for 2 nights. Book a deluxe room for a couple. Great shower, very clean, lots of space and nicely decorated. Breakfast was good: for example coffee, juice and pancakes with fruit. Friendly staff, fast wifi, and great common room and kitchen! Slept on 6th floor. Thursday night had a lovely sleep. You couldn't hear the music from downstairs in our room. However, on Friday night didn't sleep at all. Very loud noices from the streets of Quito. Windows are not sound proof at all. So very mixed feelings indeed, as quality of sleep is not always good.

Always cheating the customers! They gave me rooms with many problems (like no hot water, over-occupied, etc.) every time when I came there. And more seriously, they even made false reports to Google to remove the negative reviews I’ve left on them!

The best way to start or end your trip! The hotel staff is amazing (shoot out to Alba, Veronica, Kelly in particular and all other members)! The food is delicious, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and there are plenty activities inside the property. Ideal to make new friends quickly! If you doubt what to do, definitely head to Quito Bike Tours on the property. They are a very well-organised team of professionals (located in Selinas) who are very knowledgeable and can show you all the good stuff!
