Octant Douro

Best Place We've ever stayed and we've been all over the world!! We stayed in the Pool suites, which I highly recommend the pools are heated, the rooms are spacious. We had a 1 bed / 2 bath w/ living room with the view of the Douro River. It was spectacular to say the least. But what made it extra special was at check in a very special Catarina gave us a tour of the grounds and room, then set up a chat group and said I'm your personal assistant so if you need anything. I thought that was nice but didn't realize at that time how much she would be involved..... fast forward, she made dinner reservations and told us how good Raiva would be, we explained how we just had the worst experience at another Michelin star restaurant and she assured us we would be happy. Well, we loved it, Catarina even checked with the restaurant to be sure we had a good experience and asked us the next time she saw us. She set up winery tours and transportation for us. She even called the winery to be sure all went well and to our surprise, the Lady at the Winery took pics of us and set them to Catarina and she printed them out and placed them in our rooms with a very nice personalized note! Way unexpected and exceeding our expectations. She's the best and MVP. I also have to give a very special thank you to the Raiva Team. Joao, Laura, Piedro, Filipa who made ever meal extra special and made us feel like home. Joao even brought us some grilled Sardines for us to try on the holiday Saint Joao. So sweet and a tentative the entire team but these 4 spent the most time with us and deserve a special shoutout!!!

Wonderful hotel with breathtaking views super swimming pools and very friendly and professional staff. Try the roof top pool where you can relax swim eat and drink and watch the river Douro flow past. Indoor pool is worth a swim which I understand is open 24 hours day never experienced this in all the hotels I have stayed in all over the world. Scrumptious breakfast in a wonderful setting overlooking the Douro.

This hotel is 3.5/at best 4 star. It needs a good manager on the shop floor 24/7. Staff especially at breakfast need serious training. You end up taking back dirty plates & getting up to ask someone to bring you eggs. No idea! Also our beautiful room experience was shattered by 6 heavy hatted workmen drilling & using acetylene tanks for 2 days. After complaints & calling our London agent this stopped. Ghastly noise & upset. This place needs serious taking into hand by manager who knows what that means. Spa was very pleasant!

We had a fantastic relaxing stay here. It’s so incredibly peaceful, the river views are amazing and made use of all over the hotel. The spa is wonderful and we had great massages while staying. The food is lovely - RAIVA is a treat and the breakfast is one of the best I have ever had. There are two outdoor pools and the upper one has a great bar and grill restaurant on the terrace The staff were fantastic and made our trip special. I only wish I knew more words of Portuguese to thank them properly! Obrigada!

This hotel has an amazing location by the Douro river with an incredible peaceful and warm view. The service and staff were perfect on every detail and attention. We had a marvelous dinner at the Restaurant Raiva, loved everything! I’ m a “ breakfast person” and the breakfast was one of the best I’ve had! Can’t wait to come back:)
