This is in comparison to Waldorf Astoria monarch beach. Minuses: Rooms. Not ready upon arrival at 1:45 pm. No estimate when ready except for by 4:00 pm. I’d imagine they can make sure the room is given priority to be ready since we are on property already. Not so. Inside the room, it was ok but no handheld shower in the shower, no handheld in the bathtub, one sink, toilet did not close properly and did not have a light. Overall feel that it needs some updating. (Handles rusty, example). Pool. They ran out of towels. They do not have complimentary sunscreen. No one sits you at your chair, or finds a chair for you. First come first served. There were no chairs to even find ourselves. Once found, one chair was taken by some other guest although I had my bag on it, which was put on the other chair. Pretty tough to handle smth like that with 2.5 year old kid. They ran out of bar menus. The dolphin for kids needs to be repainted. Just felt not updated. Marsel. It was fine for dinner but failed for brunch on Father’s Day. No notice it’s only prefix and for $135 I’ve gotten smoked salmon and a small bowl of black rice paella (not much seafood there and it tasted weird). I’d estimate it would cost me $50 max somewhere else. Pluses: nice views as the property is overlooking the ocean. Large grounds. Good lunch at Catalina kitchen. They have kids activities but only for 3+
