Good Karma

This place is unbelievable! After putting the following words below on google the first evening, they forced us - kind of - to move out by turning the power off, don’t trust the booking reviews! Google review 8pm: Usually I write only good reviews. But unfortunately this place is such a disappoin**ent. When we arrived the checkin was quite a rush, then we had to pay 5% extra with card payment, which the guy didn’t tell us about, for us this is almost 30 dollar. When I asked for invoice, he says we get it only in the end of the stay. That is not professional at all! The room is way darker than it shows on the pictures. If you want dinner you need to order in the afternoon and even tell the time for eating, we really wish for some flexibility on our vacation. When we came for dinner we were guided upstairs in an open room which is 10 degrees hotter with very uncomfortable lightning. The incence stick we asked for never came. When I asked I got to know that you can not sit on the beach, only on your last day. If you book a week, this seems a bit unfair. I honestly don’t understand why, there is enough open space and even a free table at the beach. No big effort for other hotels in Sri Lanka. Mango juice is on the menu but not available, when we asked it’s not season. In our last hotels we got Mango many times. I usually don’t complain, but since this is our first evening, we are happy to help improve this place together! Read this from another customer, unbelievable! I started with 2 stars but now 1 star to balance this out: „Good karma = bad karma Be careful! You will find a lot of top ratings here and the only reason why is because they offer you a 10% discount after your stay if you write a top review!“ Update, 2 hours later, 10pm: Interestingly the power in our room turned off minutes after we submitted our review (a power outage in general was unlikely as the neighboring bungalows still had lights on) we were basically forced to move out in the dark at 8pm! Without air conditioning it was very warm and rather uncomfortable in the room in mid April. We packed right away (in the dark) and left this scary place. It is good for a story, but not so good for relaxing, don't be fooled by the name, it's just bad karma here. More ideas to improve: - You can look into the room from all sides, so you need to use the curtains for some privacy - WiFi in the room very low - only one bin in bathroom - fridge was not active when we arrived One positive fact to end with: the laybed area is really nice!

The best of guest relations - Akila offers advice and help with everything - arranges trips, taxis, tuc tuc rides - nothing is too much trouble. The Good Karma is beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. Approached via a little dirt track the accommodation is located on either side. On the left are the villas with their own individual pools (perfect for honeymooners and those who really didn’t wanted to engage with anyone else) On the left are 12 (I think) spacious rooms, great air conditioning and fans, bathroom with superb rain slower. Cleaning staff are very attentive and rooms cleaned daily. Expect some critter visitors as you are in the jungle - we had frogs and small lizards which are completely harmless and just needed to be encouraged outside. Decent WiFi privided free. A short 100mtr walk down the little path and you are at the pool directly on the beach, sand is very hot to walk on. There is a small bar area which serves beer wine and cocktails very reasonably priced and upstairs is the restaurant (all open) overlooking the ocean. Food is very good, there are other options to eat out just a few 100 yards away only negative was the odd power cut and no TV. All in all a wonderful break which we would have stayed longer at but there was sadly no availability - Highly recommend this idyllic little place.

Beautiful rooms, some with secluded private pools & little kitchen. Manager organizes bikes & tours, nice beach and cosy bar/lounge area. Very friendly staff. Would recommend coming here and do excursions. Yoga class every morning within hotel.

A beautifully designed boutique hotel We stayed in a suite room which was exceptionally comfortable The staff are very attentive particularly Kasun and Pantu The food was delicious and dinner at the sister hotel Kahanda Kanda was an added bonus

charming resort in a very quiet relaxing surrounding directly on one of the best and absolutely uncrowded sandy dream beaches in Sri Lanka with only a handfull of villas. Location is ideal for relaxing, Tangalle city is some minutes by private tuktuk (extra costs), near to the resort there are only a handful of local restaurants (our favorite is sunshine cafe, very small and family run). The resort offers a nice restaurant with beautiful view from 1st floor, romantic dinner on the beach, pool. Staff is friendly and helpful, enough possibilities to find a nice place for relaxing or sunbathing. Rooms are very spacy with modern bath, smooth air condition.

We arrived only to find out our room had been cancelled. The Latvian/ Russian owners cancelled because apparently we would not pay to their so called trusted third party in the EU. I said I would pay on arrival and my booking had been modified by email and payment on arrival had been excepted. On arrival , down this mud bath of a road we nearly got stuck on, we eventually arrived at the hotel, the porters welcomed us calling me Mr Paul, took our luggage, gave us a welcome drink and then we sat there. The receptionist was talking to the managers and I could just see in his face he felt uncomfortable, so I said has our booking been cancelled and he replied yes. What came to surface was the management Latvian/ Russians had excepted my modified booking two days earlier and on filling the rooms decided to cancel on arrival, hardly good karma. My thoughts after reading the reviews on trip advisor and the google reviews is what a lucky escape we had. We did find a very nice hotel down the road on the beach with an excellent Sri Lankan management team. To the management team of Good Karma Hotel, a little quote that may haunt you one day. There is a natural law in karma, that vindictive people who go out their way to hurt/ offend others will land up broke and alone.

The green environment made us fell in love right away. The staff was realy friendly and helpful. The chef made the best vegetarian/vegan food. One Night they arranged a beautiful, romantic candlelight dinner for us. (No extra fee). Our room was spacious and very clean. The best shower we have had on the Islandhot and strong bea. From our patio we looked o er the clean pool, sea and the jungle next door. We saw firefies and a big eagle too. On the beach we saw fresh tracks of turtles. No stone at the looong beach, just fine grained sand. Solsängar och solstolar både vid poolen och på beachen.

My name is Anar Sadigov and I am from Azerbaijan , Baku. We booked 2 sea view luxury rooms for 4 people for 4 nights at Good Karma Hotel in Tangalle , Sri Lanka , reservation number# 2127413191 Pin#4481 .When we arrived to this hotel on 16thFeb’23 we understood that this hotel have only one seaview number not luxury , and the another room was not seaview luxury and was smeelling . We have asked provide us two rooms as we booked but their manager russian guy rejected to do this .We have bben told that this guy at Germany , but then we understood he was at hotel and wa using different names. At the same time they have deducted 654 euro from my wife’s bank card despite of the fact thar we had to pay by cash at hotel. We called booking com customer service 20 times but no one from Booking great team didn’t help us . We called police but unfortunately , when police came Good Karma hotel management told they have provided what we booked and police didn’t speak english. Hotel employees told us that money have been deducted by Booking com not by this hotel which wasn’t true , however , booking com told us that money was deducted by hotel. This hotel using fake photos at booking com. After 5 hours trying to explain booking com the real situation we had to leave. After this we have received email from booking com that we haven’t arrived to hotel and we need to confirm these and pay cancellation. fee. We are very upset and dissapointed of this situation that booking com even didn’t check believed these fake hotel . We also , complained to Sri Lanka Touristic police, however , I don’f believe that this would help . Also, at this hotel russian family contactwd with us and they had absolutely the same story . They have been cheated , paid for 10 days $1150 and Karma hotel didn’t provide any receipt . When they tried to cancel Good Karma hotel told them they can’t prove that Russian tourist (famil 4 people) paid anything . All photos which you see at booming com are fake and comments are fake . Hotel personnel absolutely scammers and they have 100% cancellation fee at booking .com. We called 20 times booking com but their great customer service team didn’t believe us and told us that hotel provided you what you reserved. Then, Andrey or Sergey( Hotel General manager) sent email ro booking con as we didn’t arrived to hotel. Please share these and don’t be victim of this Good Karma Hotel at Sri lanka , tangalli
