Beds were dirty, bed sheets had stains.Carpet needs to be shampoo. Room service did not change them.valet staff was friendly. Beds were suppose to be queen size. Beds were only double size. Check out staff was rude. Hard to comunicate with. Room over all size is smaller than advertised. Room was over priced also. Would not recommend staying here in the future. I am requesting a full refund.

Hotel is dated an my room was dusty, especially behind the television. That had not been cleaned in ages. There was also a stain on the sofa in the living area of the suite. Also the staff at check in and check out are simply not friendly and up to what I expect from Hilton staff. When I checked out the woman at the desk asked if I enjoyed my stay and I let her know that there was no hot water for a showed the night before. She just said "yeah the boiler was out until midnight". No apology what so ever or even offering a small comp on say a meal or future stay. I do not recommend this place. I am sure there is something better in Rapid City. There has to be. I do have to say that the staff at Paddy's is great. Shout out to them.

This is an incredible hotel! Beautiful historically themed design, comfortable, clean, renovated rooms, amazing amenities from the fitness center to the downstairs pub, rooftop restaurant and bar, outstanding views fireside on the rooftop patio, great location near all sorts of great restaurants and shopping, and all the staff were exceptional. The valet and door staff is always there to help with anything, the cleaning crew was quick to provide whatever extras we needed and want to call out the front desk manager Cynthia who went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing stay. Funny, highly informative about all the amenities and nearby attractions at check in, then Cynthia sent periodic texts throughout our 3 night stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Finally, we mistakenly left a few items in our closet and didn’t realize it until we’d driven several hundred miles. We contacted the hotel and Cynthia ran up to our room to check-couldn’t find our items but didn’t stop there-began asking the cleaning crew and eventually found our things in lost and found, then offered to ship them to us. Bravo on five star service, we will be back plenty for work and see no reason to stay anywhere else. Thanks Hotel Alex Johnson!!

I get that this is only a three star hotel, but I did come in with certain decency expectations. Clearly, this is a historic Hotel. However, it’s not that they have kept the historic charm, it’s that they never changed i, including the moldy smell.. This place is extremely dated and I’m very surprised it’s part of the Hilton curio collection. Furthermore, the food in the rooftop restaurant was pretentious in price but mediocre in quality at best. The $20 cocktails were exactly the same as the five dollar ones at the bar around the corner. And the valet? Don’t even get me started. If you do valet, The parking garage is about a half a mile away. So, if you’re wanting your vehicle when anyone else is wanting their vehicle, be sure to ask for it at least an hour in advance. If you like historic charm with all the mold that goes with it, I guess you could stay here if you want. However, I think to stay at the McCourtyard next time.

Really mixed on this stay. The rooms are a little cramped & dated but somewhat expected given the age of the hotel. Was a little disappointed nor of the Hilton honors were acknowledged with the “type” of Hilton property. The location is great for downtown activities. Check in was okay. The bed was not at all comfortable to me but my husband thought it was okay. The shower was awful- took forever to get warm, shower head wouldn’t stay up & we only got two towels in our room. There was also a light blinking on the wall all night& the light from the hallway shown under the door really badly. Night time was mostly quiet but the train horns woke me a couple times. Parking was fairly easy- we decided on street parking vs valet but we were here during off season. Valet is normally about $29. The rooftop bar could be very nice but the service was poor & drinks overpriced. You do get a discount card for a drink but they complained upstairs they change all the time & never know what they are. The pub downstairs is decent and does get busy but has a good selection of drinks & a decent menu. Overall, glad we stayed to experience it but probably wouldn’t stay again just due to comfort for the price.
