Dirty room neighbors and smoking on the balcony (Romanian workers) bad smell in the room. The establishment can't do anything about it, but neither can I.

It's been many years since I last set foot in a youth hostel. I had a rather festive memory of it, a place with a very young clientele. The youth hostel in Switzerland has changed. That of Rapperswill at least is totally suitable for families, “young adults backpacking” are not the majority. Room with several beds, double or single. For some, a private shower room. We took a room with shower room - WC upstairs. Everything was very clean. The prices are very correct. If you want bath towels, that’s extra. The beds are not made upon your arrival. A little boring but in the end, it's quick. Meals are at strict times: 7 a.m. / 9 a.m. breakfast, dinner at 6:30 p.m. No choice of meals but the menu is very good. Possibility of taking a second service. This formula with children is perfect. The ladies who serve are not very welcoming; they are there more for the service than the relationship. The manager is more friendly. Possibility at any time to have drinks or mini snacks, self-service. Strong points of the hotel with children: the outdoor area with a large garden, outdoor games for children, swings, ping pong table and for older children “fitness style installation” outside. The well-appointed indoor games room. The children come and go and it doesn't bother anyone, we feel comfortable. The location is also around 20 minutes to reach the zoo or the pretty wooden bridge, close to the station along the lake on foot. Good address where I will return and which has given me a taste for trying other youth hostels. The ideal formula with children.
