The sun came out, the hordes descended on Saltburn. Fortunately I got the last parking slot. Came for Coffees, stayed for Lunch. A mixed experience. Pros Great location. Stunning views over the Beach. Away from the hordes of holiday makers. Wonderful design, furniture and fittings. Disappointed not to be able to have either Macciato or Cortado Coffees. Asked for an Americano with Cold Milk and a Glass of Water. What arrived was a Black Americano with a thimble full of Cold Water - intended for the Milk! Que? Having failed to find any parking down amongst the hordes - @ £3 per hour!! We decided to return for Lunch. Only diners in the Dining Room. We were in no hurry but the service was glacial. Quite a few staff about, lots of comings and goings, but no service. Finally a Waited arrived I have enjoyed seafood for years, but had never been served Mussels out of their shells before. Served in an overly rich, cream sauce. Plus Frites, plus Bloomer Bread. Just the former would have been more than adequate. My wife opted for two starters. The Sausage one was fine apart from decidedly chilly Pitta. The Prawns were rather tasteless as no Marie Rose sauce. Another diner had Tapas. Two dishes fine but Lettuce did not really work. We will return, but primarily for the views and the location above the Beach. Hayling Seagoon
