I fell in love with this property when I first visited 12 years ago, and have made an effort to come back a couple times and it seems to have gone through some nice renovations over the years. However during my most recent stay (516 - 5/19) our experience left us wishing we had tried somewhere else. The staff here is friendly and attentive, from the housekeeping staff to the breakfast attendants and front desk staff. However, we were rather surprised to find the pool closed in mid-May, only one week before Memorial Day. This was a real blow to our plans when traveling with small children... As was the discovery that the lobby bar was closed on both Friday and Saturday evenings, when it was open the Thursday before. I checked into the pool prior to booking at the beginning of the year and was told it opens in May, so this was a bit frustrating. To have to pay rates for a premium property, including the rather offensive add-on of "resort fees" of 15% (for what, amenities that were neighter open or staffed appropriately?) was deeply frustrating and left us wishing we had tried one of the many other properties in town. These may seem like small critiques, but when you're planning a trip with small children and choosing a property based on the answers to questions like "can we take the kids to the pool?" or "can I go downstairs for a drink when the kids are asleep?" since I can't leave the property, well, it really puts a damper on the whole stay when the answers to those questions are surprisingly, no.
