Does not live up to a 4 star rating. There is no lift and although the reception ist moved us to the 1st floor, there was no offer of assistance with our luggage. The stairs are difficult for the elderly. The room was poor. The automatic door closer, was not strong enough to close the door, the wardrobe doors did not close properly, there was no luggage rack or hooks to hang outdoor jackets, the light over the mirror wasn't working and all the furniture was dated and chipped. In the bathroom, the toilet flush needed 3 attempts to get it to work, there was little room for your toiletries (one small narrow shelf) on the plus side, the toiletries supplied were very nice. The light fitting above the shower had been bodged back into the ceiling, with what looked like poly filler. There was black mould where the shower screen met the bath, and some grouting was missing from between the floor tiles The worst thing though, was the bed. The mattresses were as hard as concrete, did not have a topper to tie the 2 singles together. Indeed, there was not even a mattress cover between the sheet and the bed. The pillows were lumpy, of the small square variety, but with a full size pillow cases on them. The last straw, was that the duvet cover was on inside out... Needless to say, we had a very poor night's sleep! The curtains and nets, looked brand new, which was nice. Breakfast was probably the best breakfast we had on our trip. All good quality very well cooked and nicely served. But sadly we won't be back.
