The Old Deanery - Restaurant with Rooms

First class restaurant and staff. We had the tasting menu which was delicious and expertly explained and served by the staff who were very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended.

We only stayed one night and discovered the taster menu at dinner which was readily booked (luckily for us). The food was superb and the sommelier did an excellent job of matching wines. Loved the take on a taster type breakfast too! Will be revisiting at some point that's for sure!

Great stay right in the centre of Ripon next to the beautiful cathedral Unfortunately the day we were there the hotel restaurant wasn’t open but we found a nice Italian restaurant round the corner Breakfast was very nice and different to what most b&b’s do Would definitely stay there again when we next visit Ripon

We stayed only for one night, but as soon as we got to the Deanery we were made to feel welcome. Our room was gorgeous, right up in the rafters overlooking the garden. The room was plenty big enough for us and was very peaceful. The breakfast was amazing. Can’t praise the staff enough. The Deanery is beautiful and right in the centre of the city and we felt very well looked after. Would definitely recommend.

The Old Deanery is a stunning, historic building in an unbeatable location with parking! The interiors need some attention- they have placed a battered chesterfield sofa right in front of the door as you go in which was odd. By the staircase was some sort of storage area which should’ve been a cosy snug area for guests. Everything was bleached of colour and beige. The building has so much character and charm but the interiors devoid of personality or fun. The rooms on top floor, 10 and 11 were very tired and dated indeed but comfortable enough. I don’t sleep because the toilet in my room didn’t flush properly and the cistern churned water all night making it impossible to sleep. Bed was comfortable and room was clean bar a few cobwebs in corners. Roman blind in my Dad’s room was broken and hanging down at one side. Attention to detail is important- as you approach the front door, random metal bollards, missing plants in the planters, cigarette butts, someone’s car under a tarp, rubbish lying around- same at the back of the building by the lovely stone staircase. Doesn’t cost a lot of time or money to tidy up the crap and do some tasteful planters but makes a massive difference to perceptions as you arrive. The food was excellent and the staff lovely but this building needs some work.

Called into Ripon for lunch hadn’t booked anywhere walking by the cathedral and we noticed the Old Deanery and board outside saying call in have a drink in the bar or have lunch we decided a drink and lunch, we were met by David ordered or drink asked could we have a table no problem will prepare one for you we sat in the garden till we were taken to our table 3 course meal £40 it was excellent the staff were very friendly and it’s a must for us to return and book a room and try even more fantastic dishes
