If you are going to Mayo Clinic, there is no better place to stay then Kahler Grand! It is connected to the clinic by the subway or a simple walk across the street. The rooms are clean, updated & very comfortable. Parking is also convenient & connected to the hotel. Restaurants are within the hotel, subway system or a short walk. Staff are always friendly, helpful & kind! Mayo wheelchairs are available for use ( to & from the clinic & in the hotel) if needed. There is a swimming pool & workout area also.

The bathroom was dirty and there was chipping paint on the walls. The shower drained slowly causing the water to back up every time the water was on.

I have stayed here many times. This time i stayed two nights and had to have maintenence in my room both nights.
The furst night my phone didnt work and my furnace was on ac and ut was 58 degrees in my room. I did nit have an option to change it to heat.
The maintenance man came and got it on furnace. I set it for 66 degrees as i am a cardiav patient and cannot tolerate heat.
It would nit stop warming up the room, and when i git back from Mayo Clinic, it was 74 degrees and getting warmer. Another maintenance man was sent to my room and was able to fix it so it stayed at the temp it was set on.
The majority of my time there, the room was either freezing or very warm.
I expected better with the fee i paid.
I have more appointments and a surgery scheduled and am nit sure i will risk that issue again by staying at the Kahler, even though it is my hotel of choice in Rochester.

Week day stays are the best for using the warm pool and hot tub. Weekends the pool can be overrun with kids sports teams and too lenient supervision by parents and coaches. Perhaps a camera is needed so that they feel a bit constrained. Otherwise it is a quiet and comfortable place to stay across from Mayo Clinic. Food, service and quiet, cozy atmosphere at the Lord Essex bar/restaurant was a pleasure. Really an almost perfect place.

On arrival we were greeted by an attentive gentleman who had great hospitality skills. Our room was close to the elevator as requested. The overall Hotel experience was good in terms of decor and cleanliness. We had dinner at the Lord Essex where service and food were way above expectations. I would definitely refer others to this hotel.

The entire staff was friendly. We got toknow them all on a first name basis. The door man was perfect. The valet service was quick and friendly. Front desk staff were sharply dressed. Quickest, smoothest check in we've ever had. The food was excellent, and service was terrific. The bed was the most comfortable bed you could ever imagine. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. In today's world, where nobody seems to be able to hire good help, this was refreshing
