Heel vriendelijke en behulpzame ontvangst. Onthaal en eetruimte toont zijn echte geschiedenis. Zeer centraal gelegen aan het station. Slaapkamers zijn wel afgeleefd. Geen zeep in douche. Muren sterk verouderd en aan renovatie toe. Microgolf merkt maar beperkt. Keukentje aanwezig, maar zonder uitrusting. Vraagprijs min €10,- zou meer aanvaarbaar zijn.

Horrible stay, very old and nasty rooms and dirty shower. The food was also very bad and pricy. I would not recommend this at all unless you are looking for a horror movie experience (hair in the shower, stains, dirty…). Never again!

Positief: de vriendelijke uitbater. Negatief: blijkbaar had ik zonder het te weten een budgetkamer geboekt voor 75 euro per nacht! Deze was onvoorstelbaar vies. Ik ben 65 jaar en heb al heel wat hotels bezocht maar dit had ik nog nooit meegemaakt. De douche was van plastic, geen douchegel, shampoo, niets. Er stonden twee (slechte) bedden in de veel te kleine kamer. Het gammele meubilair was zelfs ten tijde van de "Heren van Zichem" nog niet modern te noemen. Het behang was vies en helemaal vergeeld. Het ontbijt was basic. Sorry meneer Ignace, al uw vriendelijkheid ten spijt, mij zie je niet meer terug.

We stayed here for New Year’s Eve with friends. Incredibly bad food (both apero, dinner and breakfast), horrendous accommodation (feels like you’re in a 90’ horror movie or) and overpriced. Stay away.

De Bonte Os is een tweesterrenhotel, en dat wordt ook zo aangegeven. Verwacht dus niet het Ritz-Carlton maar wel een gezellig familiaal hotel waarin eigenaar Ignace altijd klaarstaat om je op je wenken te bedienen en je de nodige tips voor je bezoek aan de stad mee te geven. Wij sliepen in kamer 31, wat meer een soort appartementje met een leefruimte vol oude sportfoto's en twee kamers is, en alles was netjes en ruim. Het ontbijt was uitgebreid en vers, en het gebouw zelf een interessant allegaartje, inclusief glazen buitenlift waarmee je tot op het dak kan geraken voor een mooi uitzicht. Door de ligging vlakbij het station en de Kop van de Vaart, is het ook een prima uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan het stadscentrum. Zou hier zeker nog eens verblijven.
