Abbey Hotel Roscommon

The service attitude of the hotel is very poor, with a sense of inexplicable arrogance from grassroots waiters to managers. This may be related to the hotel's proximity to the monastery. These service industry scumbags probably consider themselves priests and nuns, and customers as foolish believers.

V good food

Returned from a 2 night stay, for our friends wedding. Check in was very efficient, and room was ready for us. Room was very spacious, with a double and single bed. Room was very hot on arrival, as the radiator was on. Also had air-conditioning. We used the pool facilities, I had to wear a swim hat in thr pool. Something I'd not come across before. Was able to borrow one, or a charge of £3.00 to purchase one. Would appear the pool can be used by the local residents. Had a jacuzzi, which was nice. However the grid around the edges was covered in black grime. Which needs attention. We ate in the bar the first evening, and the food was delicious. Bar prices are quite high, which is standard for Ireland. 2 single rum and coke just over 20 euros. Breakfast in the morning was good. Self service, good choice. Wedding was lovely. Room was well presented. And the food at the meal was very well presented and good quality. We stayed for 2 night, on the wedding rate. Worked out about £360. Overall the hotel was very nice. Maybe a little out dated, things like the furniture in the rooms, which I get they want to keep it in with the style of the original building. And could do with a little freshening up. The air-conditioning wouldn't work, so connected reception who se t someone to fix. It was on constantly then. On the whole a nice hotel.

Amazing stay at the Abbey Hotel all staff were efficient and friendly rooms were spacious and comfortable

The property was beautiful as were the grounds surrounding it. We were greeted by Sean, the formal ambassador of the hotel (Can't really call him a bellman as he was so much more) He directed us to many areas for leisurely walks around and beyond this beautiful property, took pictures of us and just entertained us with his charm. Rooms were so large especially by European standards. Impeccable! Loved every minute.

Amazing atmosphere, excellent service and food. Mattresses were terrible, bumpy and loud. We ate dinner at the bar and food was great. As with all older hotels , building is odd and we had to walk by kitchen to get to our room.

Attended for Sunday lunch with family members. The place was lovely and airy. A really nice relaxing atmosphere. The main dining room wasn't so busy but was more than adequately staffed. The dining room is nicely decorated and was very comfortable. The menu had some great choices. We all enjoyed out starters, main coures and dessert. Service was efficient and the pace was very relaxed. After we enjoyed a drink in the bar. There was a lovely atsmoshpere and lots of people dining there. We were served mostly by Caleb and he was very helpful and courteous. All in all a very nice Sunday afternoon with family. Thanks to Kevin in the Abbey for his help with organising.

I had a meeting in Roscommon so checked in to the Abbey Hotel the night before. I arrive late but its 2mins walk from the train station so very convenient. The food in the lounge was very good and very welcome after the journey. Rooms are very comfortable and clean and the grounds are quiet and relaxing to stroll in. I enjoyed my stay.
