Visited here several times in the past but we came for an afternoon tea in August for my sisters 60 th birthday and was extremely disappointed. We had to send the clotted cream for the scones back twice as it was inedible due to being off. I didn't ask for anything and had to pay the full amount of £71, which in itself is totally unfair. The day after I was telephoned by the manager who insisted we came again for a complimentary afternoon tea and apologised for what had happened. I was reluctant to book again, but I eventually did, I thought hopefully this time all will be well. We went and was presented with food which all looked lovely. After waiting 15 minutes without any tea or coffee, I asked politely if we could please have some. It arrived but with no milk or sugar, which I had to ask for also. We had the food and it was very nice, but when it came to the cream for the scones again, it was the same as last time. The manager was unwilling to even smell it, it was obviously off, tasted disgusting. He was totally unhelpful, very unprofessional and really rubbish at dealing with customers. There was a girl called Bo that was working there and she was very helpful. I've been all over for afternoon tea and never had to flag anything up before. My daughter came with us as she's getting married in 2024, and she was interested to see what it was like, with a view to booking a reception party, and accommodation for our family coming up from Cornwall. She's decided it's not for her, to be honest, i wouldn't recommend to anyone. Whoever did those teas and thought that cream was fresh, I think they need to retrain. Such a massive disappointment. And customer service ....... Zero... 👎
