Hotel Runavík

Prime location of Runavi, easy accessible to other islands.

I stayed there for two nights on the 1st morning I go to move the shower up so I can fit under it the shower pole can off in my have told reception and within the hour they sorted out the problem by moving me to a different room. Very friendly staff good quality dinner and pudding. Would stay here again.

Lovely peaceful hotel. Located close to shops, tourist information, supermarket and harbour. We’re glad we booked this location as it was quiet with nice walks close by and easy to get snacks/food at local Bonus supermarket. Had we stayed in Torshavn we would be constantly climbing hills and parking may have been harder too. Nice breakfast with lots of options. Our room on 4th floor was a very good size with sofa and double bed and beautiful views. Bathroom was fine, once we worked out we could fold back shower doors to give us more room. A capsule coffee machine is provided with 2 capsules, no spoons or milk or sugar. You can buy more capsules from reception. 1 teabag. Glasses no mugs. Mini fridge was useful. Bit of a shame as it would have been nice to have a cuppa. Decaf tea/coffee seemed non existent across the cafes in the islands. We had a lovely walk one evening around the lake near the sports centre.

I want to say that this hotel is better than average, but I really can't. The hotel is one of very few hotels on the Faroe Islands, and is set close to a busy working harbour, in a stunning location with wonderful views. When we were there the guests seemed to be a pretty even spread between people staying for a few nights while working at one or other of the many firms based in the harbour, and tourists. The hotel has under 30 bedrooms, many with views to the harbour, and a restaurant / bar / breakfast room occupying much of the first floor on the harbour side. Our bedroom was decent sized, although the bathroom was a squeeze, and was well furnished. The rooms are not serviced at all during your stay unless you specifically request this - not even for clean towels. On trhe floor that our room was on, the doors were operated by physical keys, not cards. The locks must be generally a bit difficult to manage, because each morning we were aware of several different guests attempting, noisily, to close and lock / unlock their room door. This was a shame, as otherwise the hotel was quiet with liuttle disturbance. Breakfast was the same every day that we stayed: no variation at all. A perfectly adequate selection: nothing special. Items tended to run low towards the end of the breakfast session. The restaurant menu was a disappointment. The same 5 dishes (including soup and a child's meal) every day. There was a focus on deep fat frying. Photo of menu is attached to this review. There is parking immediately outside and more parking available just across the road on the way to the harbour.

Me and my friend enjoyed our stay here, and would easily chose this hotel again for a second visit to Faroe. Conveniently located in the middle of the archipelago, in a town with at least a few dining options. Good parking opportunities (also a nearby overflow parking lot when it’s full in front of the hotel). The breakfast was good and the staff was excellent. Always friendly and helpful with whatever question we had.
