Booked afternoon tea for a birthday celebration for 8 of us. We had told them in advance about some sandwich requests, so thought it would be straight forward!! I do not expect to have to wait over 50 minutes from the time we sat down to the sandwiches, scones and cakes to arrive. They had made sure our sandwich request was covered. But it was only two people that it affected. One was only white bread, the other was just cucumber sandwiches. Hardly difficult, especially as they had been told in advance. The cumber and soft cheese ones, were more soft cheese with a hint of cucumber!! I’ve never seen cucumber sliced so thin! The room we were was nice enough with its decor. However, To be sat on sofas and arm chairs with the table not much higher than a coffee table dosen’t work for a comfortable experience. The room was cold, we had to ask for a door to be closed to stop a draft coming in. Even when the door was closed the room was not one you could relax and enjoy. My daughter had chosen this venue as it was the place one of her friends had got married and she wanted to show us. We could have been sat anywhere. There was no windows to look out of, and as I said before the room just wasn’t welcoming. The waiting staff did their best, but it was not five star service!! My wife said that ladies toilets were in a bad state. One of the cubicles wouldn’t lock, and they needed a good clean. Again not five star service. I had sent a feedback form stating all of the above the same evening, and asked for someone to get back to me before I left feedback on Tripadvisor. It has been a week, and I have had no response. So here I am telling anyone that cares to read it, what a very poor experience we had. To pay £333 for eight afternoon teas, including service I think it severely over priced for the experience we had. For the money you can have a much better experience elsewhere.
