We stayed at Auberge le 112 at the beginning of September. The inn consists of a 3-story historic house and next door 2-story private rooms. We visited both Kamouraska and Riviere-du-Loup, and the inn is ideally located between the 2 towns. The owners are friendly and helpful, and patient when communicating in English since our French is poor. We stayed on the 3rd floor of the house and were grateful to have our luggage carried up for us. Our room had one bed and a spacious bathroom with a deep tub and shower wand, easy for washing up. No A/C but we didn’t need it, nor did we miss watching TV. The house has a sitting room and veranda for guests. A 7.5 km riverwalk is nearby, though the evening mosquitoes chased us away. We loved the breakfasts in perfect and well rounded portions consisting of choices from local foods, homemade strawberry jam, and fresh pressed coffee or tea. An extra carafe of coffee on the buffet meant everyone could be satisfied. There are no other meals served, or drinks, but there is a frig for guests’ use. There are good restaurants in Kamouraska, about 16 km away. Plan your visit so you can drive in daylight and have reservations or stop at the walkup Poissonnerie Lauzier - Bistro de la mer. We bought some provisions there, and across the street at a small grocer, and in St. Andre at a tiny shop. Like in most country villages, places may close early. Our stay at this Auberge was comfortable and relaxing like a country summer day. We loved our visit along the south shore of the St. Lawrence and hope to return some day.
