Me, my husband and dogs booked in today for afternoon tea. We were seated in the boat room which was very nicely done with an amazing view. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The afternoon tea was amazing, all lovely and fresh with a very nice selection. Very well presented with unlimited tea or coffee. Also received a free glass of bubbly each. This has got to be one of the best afternoon teas we have had. I would highly recommend and we will definitely be going back for another. A big thank you to the staff and chef

So wanted not to have to do this but our experience was poor. Reception - inauspicious start, male receptionist curt with guest before me. Was not overly gracious with me when I enquired about parking. Housekeeping - looked OK at first glance but then noticed a dirty chair, a previous guests body fluids on throw and numerous stains on the carpet. Asked reception to have the chair and throw changed. When housekeeping arrived we were told that the stains were due to guests dripping tea on the carpet, no hint if a carpet shampoo machine being used here. They also said the chair was not a room chair and a discussion ensued as to why it was there - as if that mattered to us, we just wanted a chair we could use. This was changed but the replacement, although a room chair, was as dirty as the first. Then we mentioned the body fluid stained throw and were told that they would remove it, never to be replaced. On our 2nd. night we were left with a part used toilet roll with no spare and then they had not replenished the sugar, small beer really, but.... The bar - tried to have a drink at the bar after first venture into our room. Only 1 person serving and she was trying to make cocktails from a book for a wedding party. We did ask another member of staff, who was trying to ignore the issue at the bar if they really only had 1 bar tender. Thankfully he grudgingly served us but only after we pointed out others were before us. On our third and final night we asked a member of staff if we could sit and have a drink in a window seat but were refused as it had been laid up for tomorrow's breakfast. So tomorrow's breakfast guests were more important than today's bar guests! How about that, so we didn't bother. This hotel's 4 star rating is beguiling. I think I have been generous in my rating. I realise the stock answer is to thank me for my comments and that they have been noted but come on management you really do need a shake up and take responsibility for staff training and supervisory checks. Cleanliness and replenishment should be a "given" regardless of cost but especially so when you are charging top dollar and claiming 4 stars! We did enjoy our stay here, as the room was lovely but the issues above would make us choose to stay elsewhere next time!

So on arrival all was ok with us, however we heard others being spoken to in a very lacklustre way. Got to our room which on first appearance looked lovely, however, all was not how it seemed! Filthy chair and previous guests bodily fluids on the bed throw, gross. Went to reception to mention said issues and house keeping came to check, after them saying the chair was not a room chair they changed it for to be fair another filthy chair, the dirt was on the underneath of the cushion. So, trying to enjoy our break we went to the bar. There was only one young lady serving strange for a 4* hotel, trying her best to make a lot of cocktails, so I had to ask the manager if anyone else could help. Thankfully he served us. On our last night we came back to the hotel and thought of having a final nightcap, we asked the young barman if we could sit at the window and he said “no, it’s been laid up for breakfast”! We were so appalled that we went to reception to complain, to be fair the young lady was lovely, however, compounded the issue by asking if, we would like to now sit in the window! We would have now felt uncomfortable to do so, we wouldn’t have wanted to put the staff out!!

Very nice hotel, with lovely furnishings. We had an estuary view which was very nice, the Harbour restaurant also has a lovely view of the estuary and a good breakfast is provided. The hotel is conveniently located for shops and restaurants in Padstow. But I must say that of the six hotels that we stayed in on our trip around Cornwall this is the only one that had a car park fee.

Bedrooms great. Food we ate at the hotel on Monday evening the best we had over the 3 night stay. Ate at 2 other restaurants in the town. Review these next. Only issue with the hotel, the older guy in the restaurant serving breakfast is in the wrong job! He never smiled, never spoke, basically I found, along with the 3 friends I was with, he was plain rude. !

Walking the SW Path and thought to stay in a proper place for the first three nights. Was told that we needed to be moved to a back room due ti a wedding going on for the third night of our stay. Ended up on the top floor in a smaller, hot room, and it did have a view out a dormer window. we never heard any wedding noise. The service was amazing, the bar service and breakfast service as well. About the worst English breakfast I’ve had. One hard fried egg and one piece of toast,…expected better. Location, cleanliness and like I said service were excellent. Just will stay somewhere else next time for the price point. £345 a night

We spent four nights at this hotel and enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel was super-helpful before we arrived, making sure we knew there was a disability parking space for my mother who has mobility issues. Check-in experience really lively and the bonus was they upgraded my mother to a double room next door, an added bonus. Hotel facilities great, a nice touch of free gin in the room which is topped up daily if you want. Beds are very comfortable and we slept soundly. The bathrooms are on the small side but functional. Restaurant and bar areas are great, light and airy. Also areas to settle down with a book which is something not all hotels have so an added bonus. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of it, catering for a range of tastes. Overall, a wonderful experience and highly recommended.
