Stayed here with colleagues for a local work event. Excellent stay. Great welcome and friendly staff. Superb selection of well kept beers. Comfortable room. Very nice meal. Very reasonable for the location. Will be booking here again in future.

Poor Sunday lunch, pre done everything, badly overcooked and only a couple of potatoes on the plate for £15. Tired inside, pub is up for sale. Would not ever bother again, very poor unless you just want a drink i suppose. Pub needs a lot of money throwing at it, meals are basically ready meals on a plate, Dont wast your money

Inside is like going back in time, and the food is just frozen food and bland. You pay before you get your food, and i can see why they do that. Even the pint was not that nice, i think pumps needed cleaned. Not a nice experience and a complete waste of money. Won't be going back.

Went for food here and what a great venue. The landlord and landlady made us feel very welcome. Good food good atmosphere and great beer garden. Definitely recommend this place. Had 3 real ales on the bar also although I was driving so couldn't have this time.

We didn't stay overnight but stopped for some food a few days ago. We have never ever felt so welcomed anywhere! Every person there was so attentive and the food was proper home cooked deliciousness. The beer garden looked amazing for the summer. Dog friendly, family friendly. Amazing staff. Thank you 😍

We stayed here after climbing Scafell Pike, the location is great for this. Our 5 star rating comes from the really friendly and welcoming team that made our stay so good. We had dinner there which was lovely, breakfast was included and also very nice. We felt very looked after from start to finish. We were in a road facing room, I’m not sure if it was the climb or the bed but I slept like a log all night! Room was definitely tired and the decor was not perfect and had damages in places but absolutely did not affect our stay. Would stay again and do recommend.

This is a pub with rooms above. We stayed there before going to the Krankenhaus festival in nearby Ravenglass. The owners were welcoming, in the straight-forward West Cumbrian manner. We were in an unrefurbished double room overlooking the beer garden. It was fine as we don't need luxury: a bit old school in furnishings, especially the bathroom, but everything was fine, quite roomy, and the bed was comfy. I believe some of the other rooms are refurbished. It was very quiet. Wifi was a bit patchy. We arrived too late for food (they stop serving at 8.30pm) but they did offer to rustle something up if we were hungry. Breakfast next morning was a full English or scrambled eggs on toast - all you need.

Booked last minute trip to the lakes and found this gem of a pub whilst searching. The whole experience was made by the most 2 wonderful and friendly ladies both called Karen. Both couldn’t have done more to make our stay any more welcoming and enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble even got my husband a red onion (private joke) but it was such a lovely gesture that made our stay. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean and overlooked the river, The food was really good quality and plenty of choices on the menu for lunch/evening meals. Breakfast was fantastic too, all made fresh and again looked after like royalty from the 2 Karen’s. I can’t praise them both highly enough and will definitely be back just to see them again. Thank you for a really nice stay you made our weekend x

This hotel looks lovely from the outside but as soon as you step in side its a different story , we booked a disabled access room only to get a call on the day telling us that there is no disabled rooms in the property by this time we were on our way home and this was a stop over so no time to source another hotel on a Saturday night. So we got there around 8pm the restaurant stopped serving at 830 but there little left in the way of food we were informed do it was a pizza takeaway that night .the whole place needs a renovation its been painted and painted several times over the peeling wall paper ,cobwebs in our room the window was new ish and not cleanded couldn't ooen the window because the gutters overflowed abd came in the window not good as it was extremely hot in hotel, threadbare carpets on the stairs and even fully carpeted bathroom in our room, a blue stain on the bath in the attic room was a lovely touch. The pictures on the website must be from a different hotel as is not the hotel we stayed at.

We couldn't fault the Stanley Arms, from the welcoming owners to the staff, all were great. The rooms were modern, the bathroom large and the beds were really comfortable. The bar had a good selection of ales, and the beer garden on the river was pleasant. Both the evening meal and breakfast were good quality.

The Stanley Arms was in walking distance of our holiday cottage. We were made to feel very welcome by the Landlord, his wife and the regulars in the bar. The menu was traditional but there was plenty of choice (even for my father!) and the portions were very generous. The food came promptly. was well cooked and the local guest ales were an excellent accompaniment.

We stopped here for some dinner whilst staying in a village nearby. When we arrived we were greeted by the owners, who were very friendly, as was everyone who was in the bar area. We had some top notch food and a couple of drinks. Yes the place could do with a renovation but don’t let this put you off, as someone else said, business owners are still trying to recover from COVID.

Okay let's start with the bad points and there was a few The weather was scorching and the rooms where boiling leaving the windows open didn't help especially as we was roadside and believe me the road is really busy at all times day and night. The number of lorries clanging along was also a noise nuisance. The rooms were small even though described as Premier doubles they were clean but seriously require refurbishing and at nigh on £100 a night The menu is very limited The area is in the middle of nowhere and little going on. My guess is you are wondering why I gave it 5 stars. Well it's simple the place needs to recover from Covid it isn't going to happen overnight but this despite my criticism is a wonderfully charming. The owners can't do enough. The staff care and I mean really care. The locals in the bar so helpful and real good eggs The menu although limited is the finest pub food I have ever had the pleasure to taste I recommend it all. Breakfast was fantastic The service from entering to leaving was immense. And last but not least our little pooch Charlie had the time of his life. Guys thank you. We will be back.

We stayed one night on way to Scotland. Family room was spacious and well arranged with high level of cleanliness. we arrived a few minutes before the kitchen closed but they were happy to serve us dinner. The hotel is well located with a nice water side beer garden
