Ibis Styles Haydock

Booked the hotel as we were attending a wedding close by. Staff on reception were very friendly when we arrived. Once in our room we noticed the sink had a fairly major leak so went to advise reception. A lady came with an extra bathmat and a mop and bucket to clean up the water. She explained that unfortunately there was no handyman around who could fix the leak, I think it just needed something tightening but I'm no expert. She suggested leaving the bathmat and perhaps bringing another but what was really needed was a bucket there was so much leaking out! She was very apologetic and said we could have moved to another room but that would be facing the main road & may be noisy so we chose to stay. She also kindly brought an iron which appeared not to work. We arranged to get another iron but then worked out it was the socket that wasn't working not the iron. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. I suspect the sink may have been leaking for some time so its a bit poor it hasn't been fixed if that is the case It wasn't the best experience but can't fault the staff who were all friendly. No aircon so it’s a little stuffy if you don’t open the window but if you do, you’ve got the traffic from the Wast Lance road Room was nice and clean and quite comfortable. Didn’t use any facilities because COVID.

Was a standard room but very comfy. Staff were friendly and we had daily housekeeping. We enjoyed our stay so much so we are booking again next month and taking our kids! Only down we had was we paid extra on the day for breakfast and unfortunately only stuff available (that had not run out) was bacon and beans, toast and cereal for nearly £10 each for 2 pieces of bacon and 1 spoon of beans was shocking so we wouldn't be booking a breakfast.

I have stopped at this hotel before and never had any problems, however this time was totally different. When i checked in i asked for a room facing the car park as you get a better nights sleep as the other rooms face a very busy road. Even though there were rooms available i was told point blank i couldn't have one because they were saving them for members of the hotel group, i explained i was a member but was told, because i had booked through an agent i couldn't have one. I asked if this was company policy, they said it wasn't. I asked for it to be put in writing why i was refused but that was declined, needless to say i had a very poor night's sleep and to add salt to the wound i was placed in a room over looking the rubbish collection area, so even if i wanted to open the window i couldn't because of the smell. I really hope this is a one off because as i said earlier i have had no problems before. thanks Amanda the receptionist for a very unpleasant stay.

Good car park and excellent breakfast. Staff were polite throughout our 6 night stay. Shame our room was not cleaned during this period. Had to keep requesting toilet roll, towels, coffee & milk etc. The room and hallways seemed modern but it could do with a refurb as the hall carpets were stained, and grout was missing between tiles in the bathroom floor. The toilet seat was hanging on for dear life and the mattress was severely stained… etc.

Wet friendly and welcoming staff. Although the public areas have very effective air conditioning, rooms are not cooled and are very hot forcing the Windows to be kept open next to a very noisy trunk road. The bed was very comfortable however. There’s little provision to be able to work from a laptop, few power outlets and no USB charging outlets. The optional breakfast was a disappoin**ent and doesn’t compare in any way in choice, quality or quantity to a premier inn breakfast. The coffee wasn’t nice at all

Room was okay, asked at reception for extra 2 pillows and were still waiting. I even used WhatsApp to ask if they’d be arriving and I’m still waiting for a reply. Eventhough it’s been read. Other than that stay was okay

Disappointing. Room smelled of stale cigarettes. Corridor was noisy with people moving in and out through the early hours with little regard to other guests. The shower room didn't drain quickly resulting in a flooded bathroom. House keeping entered the room to clean way before check out time. On a positive note the towels were good and despite over looking the car park the curtains blacked out all the light. I needed a hotel in the area, however the room was horse racing themed, I don't like horse racing.

Great little hotel. Great price and excellent service. Will be using again soon.
