Goodbread House Bed and Breakfast

Simply one of the best Bed/Breakfasts we have stayed in! If there was a reward for “ Southern Hospitality “ they should receive it. Kirk & Wendy Haldorson

If we could give the Goodbread House a million stars we would. Coming to St Mary’s Ga and staying in the Goodbread B&B was a true blessing. Extremely clean and well kept. You are taken care of from the second you walk in the door till the time you leave. You feel such a peacefulness when you are here and it is very quiet. Almost like time stands still. The breakfast is absolutely delicious Mardja’s pancakes were the best we have ever eaten! Mr. Carroll made My husband and I felt like we were on a date each morning when we had breakfast he made it so special. Mardja is definitely part of this old beautiful historical home. It’s like stepping back into history when you are here. Mardja is an excellent host even putting out cookies and cake if guest wanted a snack. Housekeeping was so very friendly telling us to please let them know if we need anything they really do a wonderful job. We had access to the golf cart which we drove a few times but we loved to get out and walk around town Goodbread B&B is literally close to everything! Mr. Carroll was is precious we could have sat and talked with him for hours. We hated to leave but will definitely be back. One of our favorite vacations and places to stay! We can’t not wait to book here again! We just can’t say enough good things about the Goodbread B&B House. We are Feeling very blessed.

Very charming place.

The only bad thing was that the place was a little worn (but it is a 150 year old house, although some things could be refreshed, bedding, linens, etc.) on the plus side: very hospitable and friendly, good breakfasts and snacks, walking distance to town and waterfront, the town is quiet, clean and safe - a great jumping off point for activities - the best place to stay is right in town and goodbread is in a good location for that we didn't have a pet - but other guests did and the place was very pet friendly for them

Wonderful place, very old place but well kept and unique. Each room is very different. The owner Mardje was a wonderful host! Breakfast was delicious, first day was delicious pancakes topped with fresh fruit! So put white and red wine out each afternoon and cookies and coffee were available all the time.

I've been in all kinds of hotels and B&B's, all over the world, cheap and (very) expensive, but I can't remember a more adourable place to stay a couple of days. Not only was the Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara room lovely, the service was outstanding. Downstairs there was chilled white wine, red whine, other drinks, homemade cake and cookies, peanuts, any time of the day. The swings on the porch and old chairs were so nice; the decoration of the whole house was so charming!

My wife and I spent our 47 anniversary here. We loved the place. Lots of antiques spread throughout the B&B. Breakfast were different and very good. Sitting on the upstairs porch at night was a great way to spend a quiet evening.

I can't imagine anyone saying anything about this B&B that isn't good. The hostess, Mardja, will personally greet you and show you around. After that you can settle into the parlor and have complimentary cookies and wine. Or sit on the porch or the 2nd floor veranda. If you can't navigate the steps, there's one room on the first floor. The rooms are all different and all charming. The owner is on the premises and always easy to reach. She has years of experience and has reallly thought of everything. And I mean everything! She will even escort you into the town via golf cart, even though it's only a 2 block walk! We had the Gable and Lombard room on the 2nd floor. The stairs are a bit steep but no real problem. The bathroom is larger than most bedrooms and has a fireplace! There's a lovely veranda to sit on and have a drink. There's a tiny shared kitchenette with a microwave and fridge. That was very handy. The beds were comfortable and the lighting was fine. The town of St. Marys is little and has some good restaurants. The breakfast at Goodbread is sensational. Remember, this is a B&B. All of the questions Trip Advisor asks are irrelevant.

This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and it put all the other hotels I've stayed at to shame! Firstly, our room and everything there was super clean! The towels and sheets smelled amazing! Don't even get me started on the breakfasts, those were the best pancakes I have ever had, I would stay there again just for the breakfasts. Mardja was so sweet and the older man she had serving us breakfast each day was the cutest thing ever! We were able to use the golf cart to ride around town whenever we wanted. Our favorite part was the sweets and wine that was set out each evening. We would grab our wine and go sit out on the second floor porch. It was such a relaxing stay, everything about it was perfect! I will definitely have to stop by again someday.
