The Salem Inn

Four of us shared a family suite in the Peabody House with a kitchenette, living room (with day bed + trundle bed), 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms for 2 nights. The rooms were lovely and the space was comfortable. The only thing we wish was available was a full length mirror somewhere in the suite. Breakfast, which is included, is basic but the service was fantastic. The location really couldn't be beat. Parking on-site includes an option for electric vehicle charging, which was a huge bonus for our party.

Very nice hotel. Nicely decorated, room was clean, beds very comfortable. One set of stairs was steep and narrow, but there was another set which was easier to navigate. Finches in the lobby (in cage). Friendly staff. Breakfast was pretty good and included in stay. Need to place breakfast order the day before. The breakfast room was in a separate space accessible from right outside the hotel entrance. Room had an electric “fireplace” which was a decorative light without heat. Free parking on street in front of hotel, if you can find a space, otherwise parking located somewhere nearby. Friendly staff. Central location, walking distance to attractions and restaurants.

Amazing stay! The lady at the desk was so sweet and will be back soon! Every thing was clean. They even had a little treat for my corgi at check in.

For the past few years when we come to Salem we stay at the Salem inn , it’s our go to place. Clean, friendly, close to shopping and dining. Only issue - parking is a bit far, but that hasn’t stopped us😋. And Breakfast is lovely. Will return!

Our stay was wonderful! Our room was the perfect size and we loved the large shower and fireplace. Service at breakfast and while getting checked in was great. Perfect location with convenient parking. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Johnny at breakfast was fabulous!! The two that were working with him were awesome too. Johnny recommended the pepper candy store and Turners seafood restaurant were amazing!

Room was nice. Table the Keurig was on not very sturdy. It seemed ready to break. Chairs seemed well worn & looked like they needed to be cleaned or replaced.

Very clean and lovely atmosphere! Definitely grateful to stay here so I could walk everywhere! All the cool places are in walking distance.

We don’t have a single bad thing to say about Salem Inn. The room in the West House was cozy and a perfect place to rest after walking all day. We took advantage of both the complimentary breakfast and the sherry in the evening. The bed was comfy. Even for 2 grandparents with sore joints. The shower pressure was great. My husband was obsessed with the hand soap so we had to take some of that with us at checkout. (They sell it at the front desk). We stayed on the first floor where there was a water bottle filler and an ice machine. So my generic “Stanley” was always full. We didn’t need the luggage elevator because we were downstairs but I thought that was a nice upgrade. Breakfast was filling. Hot food if you want it. As opposed to a boring ‘continental’ breakfast. All of Essex street and more is within walking distance. If we ever return we will stay here again. And maybe upgrade to a jacuzzi room because we absolutely walked a LOT. Thanks West House staff we had a great stay.
