Entering through the gate, it is an open-air coffee shop surrounded by green plants covering the walls. In the warm afternoon, it is very pleasant to chat and drink coffee with friends in twos and threes. Entering from the door on the right hand side is the front desk of the hotel. The stairs are relatively narrow, and the hotel rooms are relatively large and clean. The breakfast is a traditional English breakfast.

The Hotel is in an ideal position to local attractions with the Cathedral just a short walk away. The hotel is steeped with history and we loved the twisting corridors and creaking floorboards! It is not a modern hotel but we didn't want modern. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a nice size, I liked that the shower was separate to the bath itself. There was always someone on Reception no matter what time of day. We made friends with the hotel cat which roamed around outside greeting everyone, very friendly cat. I think her name was Leona. If you are a cat owner you will love Leona!

This very traditional (ie old) hotel is a good choice if you want a central base in Salisbury which is riddled with character. Rooms reflect this which means you have to accept creaky floorboards and not great noise insulation. Restaurant and bar areas seem very nice and breakfast was on the whole excellent.

We stayed one night for a wedding nearby. Room was cold, heating wasn't working and only one mug in the room. Pillows awful. We were moved to a different room which still had no heating working but did feel warmer but we paid for a large room and this one was smaller. Receptionist was friendly and helpful but wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to others. Salisbury has many hotels better than this one

The hotel is very old and therefore very dated but we expected that. When we arrived despite specifying that we needed a twin room our room was set up as a double but the staff were really good and went to split the bed and gave us a complimentary drink. The room was spacious but I don’t think it had been cleaned. The sink had hairs in it and we had only one milk capsule which had a best before date of November 2023 so we weren’t able to have a hot drink. We went down to reception to ask for someone but no one was there.

The hotel is very tired. Staff seem bored not smiling etc. outside noise affected stay. Breakfast not very appetising.

A comfortable step back in time hotel in a great central location. Moments from shops and local bus service. Nice food and pleasant service.
