Clean, comfortable, convenient, quiet!! Great location. Spacious rooms with character. Breakfast provided each morning. Responsive and kind owners who set up breakfast for us extra early on our departure morning to wish us a good flight. We will be back!

We have stayed at the San Anselmo Inn a few times before and I would rate the location a 5. Unfortunately, it felt like we were staying in a room that had been furnished at a garage sale by someone who had no sense of style. The arm rests of the desk chair were foam that looked like it had been gnawed on for years by a very large dog. None of the furniture came even close to being color coordinated, much less matching. The refrigerator was sitting on top of the wardrobe and plugged into the wall. There were all kinds of random stuff leaning against the hall wall. The hotel ‘foyer’ was equally mismatched. It is pretty clear that this Inn is being run to maximize cash flow and has a HUGE amount of deferred maintenance. Great location, but not a room where you would want to spend a moment more time than you absolutely have to.

A friendly warning to all service dog owners: The San Anselmo Inn is NOT ADA-friendly. The owners were obviously not educated on current accessibility laws and when we attempted to inform them that the way they were treating us was illegal, they proceeded to charge us $500 and act incredibly rude, offensive, and threatening. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE A DISABILITY.

It's a rustic building in the centre of San Anselmo. There are no restaurant facilities but there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. There's no reception desk and you will find your room key left in an envelope on a table and you have to work things out for yourself. If you want all of the facilities of a larger hotel like a reception desk, bar, gym, restaurant, elevators etc. this is not for you. But there is a decent buffet breakfast provided. The rooms are small and the shower room was tiny but OK for me as I was travelling on my own. It was all clean when I got there but housekeeping didn't visit at all in the 4 nights I stayed. Hotels in Marin are expensive and this place is well priced compared with the others in the area and fine if you just need somewhere to sleep and shower before spending the day exploring.

We had a great time at the San Anselmo Inn. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the location was ideal for what we had to do in the neighborhood. I would suggest to anybody who likes a quaint place without all the other frills and whistles this is the place. I would also recommend to my family or friends.
