Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio - Brooks City Base

I am thankful that I was able to simply made hotel reservations on line while driving in the area. Pleased to be welcomed into a clean room and very nice restroom facilities.

Great stay

Arrival presented a relaxed atmosphere, calming after our long journey. Check in was efficient. However, we were not given the requested room with handicapped bathroom access for an elder person. Refund was requested for that cost and denied, saying the hotel did not have any rooms with such access. We stayed in that hotel in such a room in July 2023. False advertising? The accomodation not available? Selective patronage?

Good and fast customer service

This was overall a great stay. This location was especially good for a family vacation setting. Location is within 2-4 minutes drive to several major stores including national ones to pick up any last minute needs, it is also super close to major highways but just far enough away to still keep it quiet. Plenty of other desired businesses just a few minutes away. Very nice part of city, particularly for the south side. Room and other facilities were generally very clean and well maintained. The staff was all very helpful, friendly, and professional. The breakfast was kept hot and well stocked with lots of proteins, plenty of bread and dairy options and some fresh fruit. Pancake machine was great for the kids, we were just normally in too much of a hurry to be able to enjoy more. Prices are pretty fair for the market. The room had lots of windows and plenty of lighting when needed. We didn't use the pool or gym so I can't comment on those. The only two things that could have made this stay better would have been a microwave in the room as it already had a refrigerator, and some upgraded laundry machines. Seriously those things have to be from the 90s only accepting quarters (not easy to come by those these days) and several of the functions on dryer were broken. The machines also didn't seem to be super clean. Most guests that might not be a problem for, but with large family and several days staying there we needed them. If those two items could be fixed, then I could give a perfect rating. We still plan to come back to this hotel the next time we are in San Antonio.

The location is quiet but there is good access to/from major roads. Most people would probably think there is not much within walking distance - it took me about 20 minutes to walk to supermarket. I used the bus into the centre of San Antonio one day (bus stop also took about 20 minutes to walk to) which worked well for me. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The housekeeping was a little erratic but I wasn't left in need of anything. Excellent shower pressure.

Hotel very clean!!!

The location was right in the center of everything from dining to shopping stores. The hotel was also clean and the room spacious. My only complaint was how slow the elevator operator. It always took a while for the elevator to open and our room was on the top floor with no stairs in sight.
