This charming Bed and Breakfast is in a beautiful, quiet, historic neighborhood. The architecture among the homes is very impressive and varies so from house to house. There is a lot to do in the immediate area within a short walking distance. This BnB is so very close to walking trails along the riverwalk, neat shops, art galleries and studios and very enjoyable locally owned restaurants and bars; each with a different neat vibe. It is also a short walking distance to a good grocery store (H.E.B). A bus stop is right nearby, which we used one day. The bus was easy to use and quick and helpful getting us to the Witte Museum and area, and then back. The BnB host and owner, Lily is a delightful person; was very attentive to making our stay relaxing and comfortable. And very accommodating to any requests. The hospitality and care were way beyond expectations. Lily’s advice on things to do was extremely helpful, as well. We enjoyed our spacious room with its beautiful wood moldings and floor; windows on two sides with nice views to the front porch and beyond, and side views down the street and the neighbor’s house. The graceful furniture went perfectly with this Victorian room and house. If you want brand new or a sterile hotel room, this place is not for you. If you want charm and character in a clean, well-kept historic home, you should be happy staying here. The bed and mattress seemed quite new, which was confirmed by our host (very comfortable, large bed with a beautiful wood headboard). We did hear a train horn on a regular basis, but it was just far enough away to become a minor background sound, kind of a nice sound, at times, too. I used my ‘white noise’ app on my phone at night, which certainly made for a restful sleep. We very much enjoyed the front porch; mostly gliding slowly on the 2-person hanging swing chair while reading, talking or sipping a beverage. We also had some of our breakfast meals at the table and chairs on the porch. So scenic and relaxing… Speaking of relaxing, wow, this place has a (well maintained) hot tub. You don’t usually see that at a bed and breakfast. It’s on the patio by the backyard and garden.
