My friend suggested I stay at the “Weird Hotel” near Hillcrest. He wasn’t kidding. I should have paid more attention to the description of the microloft. It’s a main room with a weird bathroom and treehouse- style stairs to a lofted bed with a low ceiling. One night is doable, but I was ready to go.

The Abpopa worked well for the 2 of us. It is convenient to everything and the neighborhood is great and very walkable. The property itself is a bit beat. The lock was finicky on the door. The bed was difficult to get to.
For us, the room was fine, and the location fantastic. I would not recognize this place for anyone with children or that had mobility issues.

The restroom was open to the room at the top/roof area which was odd. Only a moving door and flap type wall separated from the restroom area. Room layout was atypical so if you’re expecting typical hotel room layout this is not it. Gooseberries kafe In the hotel lobby was the highlight for me. Delicious food and coffee. This place is walkable to food and Hillcrest. The staff was great.

I did not like the bathroom. There is no privacy. You can hear everything and there is a big gap where the door attachs to the "wall". I understand that is a boutique hotel and is designed to accomodate everyting in a small place, but they did not designed comfortable. From the small sofa you can see if there is someone in the toilet. Also, TV was above the a/c and infront of the tv there is the sink. No way to wacth tv from the bed or the sofa.

Everything great. Room missing a few things: someplace to hang clothes, Table for the TV. We propped it up on a chair.

Very nice place. Central location. Had a full size bed w/ loft room. Modern design that could be made more comfortable if bed was larger. Not best use of space. Room was also too warm. It was in the 50's outside! A/C is down stairs. Needs at least a fan upstairs. Window shades also needed to be more light blocking. Too much sun, wakes guests up. Otherwise, an interesting place.

The property was great but I heard a lot of shouting in the alley below and when I went for a local walk, homeless people would come up to me all the time.
