Gran Hotel Costa Rica, Curio Collection by Hilton

I honestly wish I can give this horrible hotel less than 1* because I’ve never stayed at a hotel with worst customer service than this disgusting hotel. I paid around $550 for 3 night and even toothbrush and toothpaste weren’t provided when I asked for it. I was told that they didn’t have it. No slipper or bathroom were in the room. The light switches were awkward and hard to figure out. The safe wasn’t working and when I called the reception, whoever answered the phone hung up the phone on me. They made me feel bad arguing with them on another occasion when they wanted to charge me for a having a visitor in my room. They copied the visitor ID and had the visitor sign a couple of form. A disgusting person name Jorge at the reception desk was the meanest I’ve ever seen at any hotel and I’ve been to hundreds of them. After arguing with him in front of the guest that the guest is not there to spend the night, he embarrassed me and said that “you will be charged next time if you have another visitor”. The breakfast was that of 1* star hotel. It was awful and even things as simple and basic as cheese didn’t have it. This hotel didn’t make me feel appreciated or welcomed. I felt under constant surveillance and that’s not right. Look at they supply in the bathroom for over $175 a night! Never seen anything like that anywhere else. I highly DO NOT recommend it.

Perfect stay location wise for short days, safe area and walking distance to all major museums or barrio escalante are. Rooms are modern designed and comfortable.

Beautiful hotel right in the city center. Excellent service from check in to check out, including transportation assistance.

Our room had glass mirrors and a glass enclosure for the toilet and shower, so it was a voyeuristic experience. Great location but if all the rooms are this way, whoa. An employee said the rooms all had the mirrors and glass but I didn't verify. Maybe not since the reviews don't mention it.

What a gorgeous hotel. The room was giant and clean, I stayed for 2 nights and the concierge was more than helpful giving me restaurant recommendations and helping me find my way around. The breakfast was delicious and the bartenders super nice. Very quiet and nice stay. Highly recommended.

Excellent location, perfect to spend a few hours in San Jose. The hotel is just across from the national theatre and just around the corner from Plaza de la Cultura. The breakfast was excellent with a wide selection and served on the top floor with a view of the city. The bathroom design is really awkward. The shower has frosted walls one of which faces the bedroom, so basically you are showering in full view of the other guests. That was awkward for us as a family of 4 with two teenager daughters, and we ended up having to take turns in the room. Also, there is no door to access the bathroom and another frosted door to the toilet.
