A hotel that is located in a busy area with a lot of restaurants and clubs… it was dificult to sleep because of noise coming from the street. The staff were lovely and welcoming. And the breakfast as very good, you can choose diferent options: gallo pinto, continental breakfast, …We managed to have parking at the hotel which was great as there was only 4 parking spaces avalible and it is a dificult Area to park!

Staff was kind, but the property was dirty and smelled of mold. I love hostels, and the beds were the worst of any I've ever slept on. Shower barely functioned. Of the 2 nights scheduled I left after one. The desk told me I need not pay due to this, and then hours later I received an email harassing me for having left and for payment. Bad experience. Go elsewhere.

I can recommend this place for a short stay, maybe maximum of 2 nights, just to see San Jose. It was difficult to find the place as the name shown in the pictures here was not there anymore so we had to go around the block 2 times and just ask around where is the place. It can get loud in the evening, with the noise coming from the reception and the streets.

Albergo molto carino e ben curato in zona molto accessibile e tranquilla, ricca di locali nelle dirette vicinanze. Possibilità di parcheggio. Area reception molto carina. Noi ci siamo trovati molto bene!!

Thanks to the staff for a cosy stay at the hotel. The room was spacious and the Costa Rican breakfast in the morning was delicious. Highly recommended for a stay in the city as it is near to cafes, bars and the museum.

Highly recommend the HOTEL BOUTIQUE LUZ de LUNA HOTEL and the CANGREJO ROJO MARISQUERIA RESTAURANT on the main floor of the hotel in San Jose Barrio Escalante area. The hotel staff is exceptionally wonderful and provided outstanding service throughout my ten day stay here. Sylvie the owner is wonderful and was super helpful. The rooms are spacious and the beds, pillows and lines are super clean and super comfortable. Byron the hotel receptionist and waiter provided excellent service as well as provided super helpful recommendations on my travels in Costa Rica which made my trip outstanding. Yasser, waiter at the restaurant also provided outstanding service and played the most amazing selection of music that I have heard on my travels, and he and Byron both became amazing friends. The seafood at the CANGREJO ROJO MARISQUERIA RESTAURANT on the main floor of the hotel, is by far the best seafood that I have experienced at any restaurant in the World. The seafood Rissoto is excellent and the Seafood Casserole is the best on Earth . I highly recommend both the CANGREJO ROJO MARISQUERIA RESTAURANT and the HOTEL BOUTIQUE LUX DE LUNA HOTEL for your stay in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The neighborhood is quiet and safe, with many good restaurants. The breakfast was okay. And this is all what I can say positive about the place. Mold and dirt everywhere, even on the bed linen (see the picture of the pillow that I was given), toilet flush not working, dirty walls and disgusting smell in the room -- this is what you should expect in this so called hotel. There is one tiny window in the room, covered with a dirty rag, behind which you will find someone's smelly clothes hanging out, and a blank wall -- no air, no daylight, no sky. From this window, a cat would jump on your head at night when you are sleeping, and when you ask the personnel to do something about it, they would say -- sorry, this is the hotel's cat! But what is worst is the way they treat guests that they don't see as important: in the morning, when I was out for a walk, they just entered my room and put all my stuff in the trash bag and took it out as if it were just a rubbish! Without telling me before hand that they didn't have a room for me for the second night! I came back at about 4pm to find my things in the lobby in a trash bag and to learn that I have no place to stay! Perhaps the hotel was nice few years back, but now it's not even worth to be called a hotel. It's a pity that I didn't take pictures of these dirty walls in the first day and I didn't get a chance to do it on a second day. The management should learn the hospitality principals: the owner didn't even show up to explain anything or listen to my complains, and it was all left to the poor reception guy who had to say all apologies and so. This was the worst experience that I've ever had for my 30 years of travelling in 30+ countries.
