Unfortunately, we were tempted to book because of the many good reviews. The much-praised friendliness is true, but that's about it with the positive aspects here. The hotel is already 15 years old and has hardly been noticeably renovated or maintained since then.
Our deluxe room 209 in the main building with a pool view was above the reception, extremely thin walls and so restful sleep was out of the question. The balcony was useless because it smelled disgusting and attracted countless blowflies, which meant we couldn't air the room. After the first night, we were offered a room change. However, this would have been in the same place two floors higher and so this offer was useless.
There were problems even before we arrived. We received an email with the unfortunate information that we would have to change rooms on the last night. We didn't like this huge amount of time with lots of luggage. In the end, the hotel offered us the option of checking out a day early, but the room we had already paid for was only partially refunded in the form of a credit for hotel expenses (consumption, tours and wellness). The
Breakfast quality was disappointing, some of the fruit was disgustingly overripe.
Snorkeling on the hotel beach costs an outrageous 100 pesos per guest per day and it's hardly worth it. We only saw a few fish, although as diving instructors we actually love snorkeling.
The additional snorkeling trip to Apo Island that we booked was very well organized and the huge turtles are definitely worth seeing.
Our conclusion: definitely not a recommendable hotel apart from the trip to Apo.
