Banana Beach Resort

We just returned from a short (oh we wish we could have stayed longer). We were skeptical after reading some of the reviews but that has not been our experience. The rooms were exceptionally clean on arrival and throughout our stay. The staff were super helpful and friendly. We were able to see the ocean from our balcony where we sat and had a nightcap. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel, about a 30 minute walk to downtown along the beach with many restaurants within a 15 minute walk north and south. We rented a golf cart just one day to go to Secret Beach and pick up some extra groceries. The kitchen is full service so we made our own breakfast and coffee each morning. If you don't mind walking along the beach there's a lot of restaurants, snorkeling/diving outfits, and hobie cat rentals nearby. The hotel is far enough away to be quiet but close enough that it's all easy to get to. We walked as far as Caliente for dinner (lagoon side) and then cabbed back to the hotel, walking at night on the roads of San Pedro can be nervewracking! For the most part we walked along the beach which is well lit at night and dark enough by the ocean that you can see the stars. Cabs are about $10USD, so cabbing downtown and back is about half the cost of a golf cart rental. the hotel is still fairly new so not many ammenities (no flippers or paddle boards to rent) and the bar is in the interior, so no ocean view, but you can carry you drink to the beach chairs and there are a few grocery stores nearby to pick up your own food and drink. Also some good street vendors. The price for an ocean-view room can't be beat. We booked our golf cart and excursion through the hotel and billed them to the room. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would stay here again.
