Gloppen Hotell - by Classic Norway Hotels

Wonderful hotel with old and new wings that offers a warm welcome, comfort and good food!

We arrived at 2:00 and were told by the man at the desk that our room was not ready. A woman came out from the back room and said there were other rooms available that we could have. Great. The room was clean, bed comfortable, however the coffee machine did not work and it took nearly ten minutes for the lights in the room to come on. Cleaning woman said this is normal. Food was expensive and portions small. Thankfully, there was a great restaurant just in town called the "MonaLisa". Manager was awesome and salmon and beef were wonderful. Back at the hotel we asked if there was a washer/dryer on the premises for guests. The woman at the desk said yes, and bring clothes down and she would show us where they were. When my friend arrived at the desk, the man was back and said there would be a charge for laundering the clothes and the staff would wash and dry them. We said fine. Later that evening the clothes were returned in the duffle bag just as we were headed out to dinner. Upon returning to the hotel we discovered that the clothes in the duffle had been shoved into the bag wet and wrinkled. We had to take everything out of the bag, shake them out and lay on available surfaces in the room to dry. I went down to the desk to talk with the attendant. She was not a manager and apologized for our experience. I asked her to leave a note for the manager in the morning. In the morning they offered to take the clothes back and dry them. We will not be returning.

The reception and hotel personal was very friendly The food in the restaurant was fantastic

Nice place and good value for the money

This is a tired, poorly maintained hotel that promises much, but delivers little (at a very high cost). Room notes: - Poor lighting - Poor blackout with broken & worn blinds - Old & cheap bathroom fittings Cheapest shower hose & head Slippery bath (no rubber mat) Slippery floor (no bath mat) Wobbly plastic shelf Tiny basin Ridiculously hot water with no warning - Not the advertised double bed – two adjacent singles with separate mattress toppers - No milk for the coffee machine which had been left with water in the reservoir – who knows how old that was… - No channels working on the TV - “desk” unusable a) tiny and b) covered in junk View of the carpark at the back of the hotel and this was one of their best rooms in the original building. Personal details required to use Internet, I did not give permission for them to contact, but they are doing so anyway. Front desk service was efficient. but perfunctory - no time wasted making me feel welcome. Breakfast buffet was almost entirely depleted, even though I was there long before the deadline. Overall a very expensive disappoin**ent - I don't think there are any circumstances that would make me stay there again.

We are a family form Italy and spent one night here. The Rooms are wide and clean, the bathroom is comfortable with a great shower. Breakfast is delicious with all kinds of food. Friendly and kind staff. They also reserved a taxi for us from the airport in the evening.
