The Harbor View Inn is right at the beachfront next to the Santa Barbara wharf. The hotel is rather large, we stayed in a seaview room on the 3rd floor in the south building which was very nice, with a balcony towards the beach and open space to the roof ceiling. Despite that the windows did not provide much noise protection, it was surprisingly quiet at night (although we stayed over the weekend). The hotel has a nice small pool area, which we however did not use, because it was simply too cold. Be aware that Santa Barbara is often foggy and cool in springtime due to the cold Pacific Ocean! The hotel offers outdoor parking space, however, this we found quite expensive (30+$ per diem), especially seeing that at least at that time of the year there is a lot of free parking nearby. With the high price of the hotel, we would have expected the parking fee to be included. The other small down-side is breakfast, as the hotel does not offer any, and the cafe next door is so highly frequented that in 3 days we did not manage to go there. There are two other places nearby but they are so-so. The hotel offers the opportunity to book on-line in the cafe via wifi from the room and then pick-up but we did not tried this. There are a lot of nice restaurants nearby in walking distance, and a bike rental around the corner. But most of the time it was just enjoyable to sit on our small private balcony and look at the sea.
