Quinta das Lagrimas, the sanctuary of tears. You'll be smiling a lot here though the tears refer to a historical event from several hundred years ago involving a prince and princess and a love affair. The rooms are beautiful, the staff wonderfully accommodating, the grounds are fantastic and the restaurant meals delicious. Although this property is about a mile outside city center Coimbra, it is worth the short travel to be in this restful environment.

Wonderful historic hotel with beautiful grounds. Would stay again anytime. Wifi works great, people are friendly, food is wonderful, great location. Highly recommended for a romantic weekend (we stayed over Valentine's Day in the King's Suite)

This stop was during the middle of our vacation in Portugal and I only wish we had spent more than one night as the resort was just perfect. I'll start with the staff. Everyone was welcoming, pleasant and attentive to our needs. They couldn't have been friendlier! The rooms were clean and had everything we needed but what sets the Quinta apart is the property it sits on and the history. Take a walk around the property; read about it's history as a palace and many intriguing stories. We had the breakfast buffet and it was plentiful including an omelet station. It is a short walk across the river to the center of Coimbra which has some fabulous restaurants. We did a tour of the University and hiked the "Heartbreak Hill", which was a little challenging but well worth getting a feel for the historic walled city.

Lovely hotel, exceptional staff - very welcoming, helpful with car and luggage, restaurant recommendations, visiting the city, calling taxis. Very quiet rooms. Comfortable and relaxing lobby/lounge areas. Excellent breakfast. Wish we had stayed more than 1 night so we could have enjoyed the beautiful gardens and other amenities at the hotel (former palace).

My husband and I loved this hotel. The service was outstanding throughout our stay. We had our best meal in Portugal at the hotel’s restaurant. We loved sitting outside for breakfast enjoying the large buffet. The gardens were lovely as well. Coimbra was such a pleasant surprise. We stopped here on our way to the Douro Valley, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.

Hotel desconfiado con el cliente. Tarjeta de crédito para reservar, para registrarte a la llegada y si quieres prorrogar la estancia, precio del día y no de cuando se hizo la reserva. Desayuno mediocre y abarrotado. Si llegas un poco tarde tienes que esperar de pie. El servicio bueno y amable, salvo recepción y las habitaciones buenas pero a un precio desorbitado que no corresponde con lo ofrecido. Restaurante a precios astronómicos. 81 euros menú del día. Por lo demás el sitio es muy bueno, un poco alejado del centro.

Os funcionários, o Spa, os quartos, limpeza e o jardim são fantásticos. Gostámos muito do ambiente calmo do hotel. Apenas ficamos tristes e desagradados por não podermos visitar a Biblioteca e capela, por ambos os espaços estarem reservados para sessão fotográfica particular.
