My wife and I have stayed here before and have always been very happy with the hotel. The beach, bars, and restaurants are delightful and the service excellent. You may have to wait in line for breakfast if you go at peak times, so it's best to go either before or after the busy period. Some of the furniture is looking a bit dated now, and one of our sliding wardrobe mirrors was badly tarnished, but this is a minor point. Overall, the common areas are well maintained and there are plenty of staff to help with whatever you need. We will certainly be back.

My friends and I had the best couple of days here!! We wanted to especially thank Isis, Aimee, Amir, Daniel, and Antonio for always showing up with great attitudes, putting so much time and care into the daily activities and giving us a good experience!! Everything was kept very clean and the service is amazing.

Well, the views are great. Rooms are fine but nothing special. Entire place needs upgrades. Pools are almost too warm, and there is trash all over the beach. Haven’t found a decent meal, and half the time what you order isn’t what you get-this includes room service as well as restaurants. Found twigs in my food at the buffet and they just laugh and shrug. Food at the poolside grill is about what you’d expect from a concession stand at a little league baseball game. Preferred club perks had to be asked for repeatedly. Here now, will never be back and this is the first vacation I can’t wait to see the end of. Just skip this place, wish I had.

When you think you want to travel to Mexico the areas of Cancun, Riviera Maya, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo all come to mind first. But we had heard good things about Huatulco and had always wanted to experience the Secrets Resort. It is not the easiest resort to travel to depending on the time of year (but not impossible) but we finally made it. We were so amazed to discover that the resort is so calm, quiet, and not near any other resort! The beach view is so beautiful, just stunning. The beach right in from of the resort is pretty rough and drops off quickly, but around to the left side the beach is protected and swimmable. Best of all, NO SEAWEED while we were there! The pools are nice, the food at the restaurants is quite good, and staff is very friendly and helpful. The resort is showing some age here and there but the AC units worked better than at any Secrets resort that we have ever been to! We had a great time and plan to come back again at the end of April/early May as it is a low time for occupancy and we loved the laid back and quiet vibe. The weather this time of the year is hot (90-95F) but there was always a breeze which made it totally tolerable for us.

We have been to this resort 3 times since 2017. The resort is starting to show its age, but is still a very beautiful place. If you have never been, then I would definitely put it on your bucket list. The resort is kept spotless, and is on its own small bay. The beach is beautiful with some decent snorkelling on its east end. There are beautiful secluded beaches on both sides as well; one you can walk to and one you can kayak to (but they like to go with you). The food was excellent!! However my wife and multiple others that I spoke with had been hit with "Montezuma's Revenge!" This was the reason for the 3-4 star rating. 5 star places do not send half their guests home sick. Could have been a one off, or possibly due to their busy season winding down. Thankfully she came prepared with gravol, Imodium, and Pepto Bismal. So be prepared. The airport is a blessing for today's traveller's. We landed, deplaned, went thru immigration, grabbed our checked bag, went thru customs and were on our way in 15-20 minutes. This adds to the charm and attractiveness of Huatulco. Go and enjoy!!!

We are just leaving Secrets this morning after spending two reading weeks here. As other reviews have stated the service here is what sets Secrets apart is their staff and service. Checking was smooth and we were shown our room which was an entry level ground floor jacuzzi suite. We never did use the outdoor jacuzzi but for a ground floor we had a great view. The room was well appointed with toiletries and had double sinks, mini fridge, king sized bed, rainfall shower, inside jacuzzi tub as well as the outdoor one, sitting area and a nice large tv. The resort overall including the room can use a little updating maintenance as others have said but this didn’t affect our trip in the least. Can you find the odd cracked or missing tile by the pool? Yes but if this ruins your trip you’re a lot pickier than me. The beach was nice with great large style palapas for shade. We didn’t have troubles finding a spot any time of day during our stay on the beach but this might be because it was start of shoulder season. I will say they did have someone walking around trying to manage chairs that had towels on them for hours on end with nobody using them. They have a grab what you want or need towel policy with no cards etc. This is great however human nature rears its head for some and they reserve chairs without using them or can’t be bothered to pick up their towels when they leave due to no penalties for losing a towel. This is a guest issue, not a resort issue. The pool chairs were a bit harder to get especially the good shady ones. People got up early to reserve them which I have no problem with as long as g as they were being used. We usually started the day on the beach then by late afternoon pool chairs became available if we wanted a dip in the pool. Service overall was great. A special shoutout to Angela on the beach who hustled each and every day and was always a ray of sunshine. Our maid Patricia kept our room spotless and didn’t waste any time cleaning it. We loved the live music that played most nights and they had your typical night.y shows in the theatre as well. Food overall was very good with only a couple of misses on the menus. Our favourite restaurant was Spice, the Asian restaurant. Pretty much everything we tried there was delicious as well as the service was top notch. Castaways, the steakhouse was also great if you like ribeye steak. The French also made a great steak medallion. We utilized room service a few times which was a treat. The menu was fairly basic but we enjoyed it for breakfast and lunch. Overall I wouldn’t hesitate to book Secrets again depending on cost. Views and service second to none.

This is our favorite place to go and unwind. We love the location, the weather, and the relaxing vibe. We fell in love with this place about 4 years ago and have not gone anywhere else. This was our 9th trip and we are already booked for October. The service is top notch and a few people have made our time extra special. First off, Matilde making my latte perfect every morning ( and sometimes afternoons) her smile listens up the cafe. The hostess at the buffet ( I cannot remember your name even though you remember ours all the time) and Nathalie at the fresh Asian station are outstanding. The beach is incredible and the service has always made us feel like VIP'S. Special thanks to Evangelina for the most amazing service and for the special drinks one day. Hector for his creation with the pineapple to hold our delicious drinks. We can never forget our favorite restaurant Bordeaux, from the hostess , to the best server Amayrani and you can't forget Chef Lily. I could have the French onion soup everyday! Spice was also a favorite and we are always greeted by the manager Wilian, hostess Vanessa and the servers Daniel and Alejandro. The entertainment crew is incredible and always is asking us if we want to be involved... especially in beach volleyball! Loved our sailing adventure and the daily aqua aerobics/stretches. Turn down service was incredible. Cheers to all of the Secrets team and we will see you again very soon.

Some staff were outstanding such as Alejandro who has more energy than all the visitors combined. He is also a very good tennis coach - salam halecom. The guest tennis coach Moray was also very good. Venecia in the market place had an everlasting smile that was as cracking as all the eggs she cracked! Also Mardeli who served poolside drinks had an outstanding personality that shone through out the day. The Castaway was our favourite restaurant for lunch and the crew of Ruben, Ivonne and Stefany were great. We did not like the Bordeaux and CinCin because they were so noisy that you couldn’t have a conversation with your partner if a loud guest was nearby. They need to install sound absorbing baffles on walls or ceiling. Oceana was our preferred dining venue, outside.

Secrets Huatulco/Hyatt The locations’ beauty second to none. The most incredible beach. Wonderful for swimming and snorkeling. A number of folks we spoke to this was there go to resort. One fella it was his 5th visit and another couple had been coming annually – this was their 10th year. Castaways was delightful for breakfast with an amazing view. The Barefoot Grill had good food but was overcrowded and understaffed. The rooms were status quo. The first week only 2 of the 3 elevators were working so an 8 to 10-minute wait was standard especially during peak meal times. Its true what you see online. You need to be up by 6:00 am to get a chair by the pool or the ocean. On a windy day, staff lowered all umbrellas due to safety. Guests left because it was just to hot to be out without the shade. So has guests left others came to take the chairs and proceeded to put the umbrellas back up. No staff to stop this. Other guests were left to tell people to lower the umbrellas but this fell on deaf ears. Sure enough the wind took down two umbrellas narrowly missing folks. These are heavy wooden umbrellas. Where was the staff? The seafood restaurant, lovely location but my meal was cold. They took it away and when it came back it was slightly warm. I advised the maître d and he raised he voice at me and said I was lying. I suggested he taste it but the verbal abuse continued so we simply left. The French restaurant, the food wasn’t great but the waitress was so lovely and friendly we simply overlooked the quality of the food. The mussels were tasty but my serving consisted of 7 mussels and only 4 were open. The Italian restaurant was our favorite. On arrival the concierge we dealt with was Carlos. I will remember him forever. So friendly. So joyful. And it was all an act. Regrettably I suffered serious injuries, needed surgery and was hospitalized in San Miguel for 6 days. Our daughter flew down to help. On her arrival day – Winnipeg – Toronto – Huatulco – hospital in San Miguel. When she left the hospital with my husband to go to Secrets it had been an extremely long stressful day for both of them. And how were they greeted as Secrets. Well Carlos turned full force ICE agent. In their faces yelling at them that they were trying to stay at Secrets without paying/registering because my daughter had a carryon bag. Since I was hospitalized, and we paid royally for Secrets, my daughter stayed in our room until my release. When I returned to Secrets (bed ridden) and learned about Carlos’ behaviour I was very angry. I spoke with Eduardo who I was advised was the head concierge. I told him Carlos behaviour was completely unacceptable (but apparently this behaviour is acceptable to Secrets so stop non paying guests). Now where does my daughter stay for the next 4 nights considering the circumstances. Zero compassion from Secrets/Hyatt chain. A room for my daughter would have been $600 Canadian a night and they did not have an adjoining room. They did not have any
