Barceló Huatulco

This was our 3 rd visit in one year. The hotel is a great size and the staff and service are excellent. The food has improved and provided a much better selection of fresh food. Activities were great for adults and kids. Pools had fantastic service and friendly staff. We will return!

All of the staff at Barcelo were very friendly. Our room was spacious with a comfortable king sized bed, bathroom was clean, but the shower didn’t drain properly. The pool area and gardens are immaculate. The beach is alright, but we found it much calmer closer to the other hotel. The food was tasty and the buffets did theme nights (while not every theme was my favourite, I always found a variety to things to eat) we tried the Italian and Mexican a la cartes, which were both fine. On the day of check out, we had to remove our bracelet (room key) at 12pm, and our shuttle didn’t arrive till 3.40pm. Coffee, bread and fruits were supposed to be available, but the coffee machine didn’t work for what I wanted and I didn’t any food l. So that was a bit disappointing. On the whole, I enjoyed staying here. We went on 3 excursions (waterfalls, turtle release and a city tour) The tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable.

The Location is good,beach was a bit rough if you want to swim but they do have a life guard on duty and he was paying attention. As for the resort I would not stay here again,the staff was great for the most part but the actual hotel has issues: Evenings there is only 1 bar open in the lobby with under 50 seats for a hotel with 300 plus rooms so hope you like standing. They have a late night bar that plays base heavy music from 10 pm until 2 am right in the middle of the hotel so if you want to sleep around there..good luck. The pools and grounds were good and maintained,rooms were clean but we stayed for 7 days and one of the elevators was down all week leaving only one for our side of the hotel. The people that live there are friendly and we went around a few places and had no issues. For the price I expect better

Excellent service in all areas, very attentive and accommodating. Good food selections. Great pool area & atmosphere. Extremely well maintained and organized.

We so enjoy our trips to the Barcelo. From when you first enter, everyone is there to make your visit a great one. The resort is the perfect size. It’s not too big that you get lost but it is big enough to have all the amenities and has quiet places to get away and relax if that is what you are looking for. But really what makes the Barcelo are the people. Everyone is friendly and thoughtful but there are some people who go the extra mile to take your experience to the next level. Some include: Alvaro at the pool bar, Carlos and Miguel at la tortuga restaurant, Nancy keeping everything clean with a big smile on her face, Francisco taking care of everything, Karla and Gloria keeping everything running smoothly, & Victor at the Dona Rosa restaurant. We’ve been here three years in a row and are already planning our next trip

During lunch at La Tortuga, I accidentally left my Cabo baseball cap and my prescription Oakley sunglasses behind. When I realized they were missing, I went to security and explained the situation. Within an hour, they had already found my cap — and after reviewing hours of footage, they discovered that a family had taken my sunglasses. The security team tracked exactly where they ended up, and I was reunited with them later that same day. A huge thank-you to Antonio Aguilar (Security Supervisor) and Esao Navarrete (General Manager) for personally returning them to me. Their professionalism and dedication were truly impressive — and thank goodness for cameras! I also want to express a very special thank-you to the incredibly attentive staff at the Barceló:
Francisco Mijangos, Maria Reyes, Octavio Mijangos, Leticia Canseco, Cirilo Martinez, Laura Garcia, Samira Ovando, Alma Martinez, Lidia Bernardo, and Luis from the Beverage & Food Department — your warmth, care, and attention made every day better.
And Carlos, the always-smiling server at the La Tortuga buffet, deserves a big shout-out for the cheerful songs he sings while working. His positivity is contagious. Of course, there are many others who help this place run so smoothly — the amazing bartenders, the caring caretakers, and all the behind-the-scenes staff who brighten each day. Their hard work truly makes this hotel great. The resort itself is an easy 5 stars: spotless rooms, delicious hot food, great drinks, a gorgeous beach, and a super-clean pool. Every staff member we met was kind, attentive, and genuinely focused on guest experience. A perfect destination for a relaxing getaway!

Food was average for an AI. Nothing exceptional but some was awful. Service (everywhere) was impeccable. Room (premium) was exceptional - large, beautiful balcony and views, excellent service. Everything was as expected for what we paid and what we have previously experienced in an all inclusive (and it is also why we don't do this very often).

Our stay was pleasant and loved the area! The hotel is a little older and could use some updates, but I still see where it gets it's 5-star rating. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a beautiful area to visit and a little relaxation.

I travel to Huatulco on vacation during the last week of April, an overall review the hotel is great the food was excellent, however one of the buffet Dona Rosa the pastries were to sweet or poor selection of the hotel. Also, on the hotel lobby it was very hot that day, and was waiting to go the City Tour, the lobby has lobby bar for the guests. I proceeded to ask for strawberry daiquiris with no alcohol and the person on the bar denied my request to served me the drink. The bar server name ( Estela Cruz) told me very rude to go to swimming pool bar and asked for one. I said why should , I go to the bar at the pool when you are serving the drinks to other guests. The servers overall are rude, they asked what do you want to drink and never bring what you asked. I believe Barceló needs to improve on their guest experience with their servers. Another thing about the so-called Tours the hotel offers, the tours are misleading to the guests and person or tour tells you that he taking to tried Oaxaca culinary moles, chocolates and mezcal. The tour takes you to a town store in which has little samples of what he makes you believe that you experience trying different foods of large portions. I believe the Tours are NOT worth to pay, are misleading by the hotel tour guide. I don’t recommend this tours are very poor for the guests.
