Hotel Montes

Lovely large room overlooking a busy square. The room was one of the larger we have had as we tour northern Spain. Nice washroom with shower, comfy bed, and a modern renovated room. The balcony had french doors that opened to the town square that let the lively street vibe in. A short walk to the Cathedral and all of the old town made this an ideal location for our visit. A bit more pricey than other places at $150 euros per night, but Santiago is a busy place! There is public underground parking that is a short walk from the hotel.

Hotel room with no windows. Similar to an internal cabin on a cruise ship. Add on the fact the room is located on a corridor so you have the constant noise of people walking past and I end up with the second worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Not suitable for tourists.

My stay at Hotel Montes in Santiago de Compostela was far from satisfactory. The rooms lacked windows and air conditioning, creating a stuffy and uncomfortable atmosphere. The absence of proper ventilation made the rooms excessively hot, and the persistent running toilet only added to the discomfort. Despite our request to change rooms, the hotel staff declined our request, leaving us stuck in these unsuitable conditions. What was particularly disheartening was the price we paid for these subpar accommodations. The rooms were exorbitantly priced for the amenities provided, which were clearly insufficient. Even when we expressed our readiness to cancel our reservation and seek alternative lodging, the hotel was unyielding and refused to waive the cancellation fees. Adding to our frustration was the hotel's claim that all relevant information was available on ***********. It was perplexing to see beautiful pictures on the booking platform displaying rooms with large windows, which starkly contrasted with the reality of our windowless situation. This misrepresentation only deepened our disappointment and highlighted the gap between our expectations and the actual experience. It's important to note that while the staff members were polite and courteous, their efforts were overshadowed by the shortcomings of the accommodations. Overall, my stay at Hotel Montes was marred by discomfort, misrepresentation, and an unwillingness to address our concerns effectively.

13/06/2023. From the exceptionaly friendly receptionist Elena, to the fabulous room and the hotel location. Worth every penny. We are only staying for 3 nights for a weekend break. Already looking to book again for another longer trip.

This hotel is ideally situated just by the Cathedral, attractive old building overlooking a little garden. Some reviewers have said the hotel is noisy, but I am a real noise-phobic and did not have a problem. Rooms have double-glazing and heavy shutters. However, it might be different in mid-summer… We had a very big room (201) with a sitting area, sofa, mini-bar, two TVs. Very good. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, bed was comfortable. Very clean. However, Hotel needs to tighten up on details if it wants to excel. Plumbing all worked but fittings were wobbly. Towels were skimpy and thin. Breakfast very basic - served down in the bar. Good coffee and juice but very cheap jam and cakes. Some yoghurt’s would be a good addition. However, for a reasonably priced hotel right in the centre, would recommend.
