We did our research and chose this place for our couples' getaway. We went in with a peaceful mindset to experience Ban Shan Ban Dao, and it met and even exceeded our expectations. The shuttle service was excellent, and all the staff we encountered while walking around the hotel or going out were friendly and smiled, which was very pleasant and gave a lovely feeling of human connection. The breakfast was also fantastic with a wide variety, and the fruits were fresher overall compared to other places I've stayed. We also booked the Executive Lounge this time, and it met expectations. The two days we arrived were rainy and stormy due to a typhoon, which allowed us to slow down and enjoy the lounge – having some breakfast during the day, afternoon tea, and cocktails in the evening 🍹. It was a very comfortable holiday experience. The butler service was also very attentive; our butler Jenny was responsive and polite, contacting us the day before check-in and keeping an eye on our arrival status. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay, and I would recommend it to friends and family. Oh, and the hotel rooms, Executive Lounge, and all the public areas of the hotel are also very photogenic!

Came to Sanya to relax, mainly to enjoy the hotel, so I booked this InterContinental at Xiaodonghai with executive benefits. It perfectly met my needs – just lounging around the hotel, getting a spa when bored, or chilling at the executive lounge. In the evenings, there were a few special alcoholic cocktails, or I could go for a swim in the pool. - The room decor wasn't too new or old, and I particularly liked the small balcony outside where I could lie down and stargaze at night. - The executive lounge didn't have a huge variety of food, but it definitely met basic needs. The evening cocktails were my main focus. - The main pool was great, with plenty of sun loungers nearby. After swimming, I could get out and lie down, and an entire afternoon would just fly by. - It seems you can swim at Xiaodonghai; I saw many Russians swimming at the hotel beach (P.S. there were so many Russians!). However, there didn't seem to be any sun loungers on the beach. - The breakfast variety was also quite extensive, and there was enough seating, so no need to queue it seemed. - What's really worth mentioning is that a day before check-in, our butler Dora contacted me to ask about my needs and help arrange things. During my stay, she also resolved issues very promptly. Excellent!!!

The public areas are beautiful, and the service is excellent. They even deliver takeout directly to the room, which is a big plus. However, it was a bit boring for my 2-year-old, which is understandable as it's not a family-oriented hotel. The breakfast selection was also limited, and when we went around 10 AM, it was packed, and not much food was left. The executive lounge breakfast was even worse... Also, all the noodle bowls were plastic, which felt a bit cheap. On the bright side, Annie, our butler, was very responsive and solved all my issues promptly, unlike the ineffective butlers at other hotels.

The best part of our stay was the meticulous service from our butler, Leo. He contacted us the day before check-in to ask about our needs and met them perfectly. He even helped us coordinate a slightly later check-out when we had an issue. A big thumbs up to our butler! 👍🏻 The hotel room style is a bit old-fashioned, probably because it's been open for a while. However, the sea view from our room was fantastic. Being on the 10th floor offered an expansive view with the entire ocean visible. It's a shame the weather wasn't great, so the sea wasn't as blue as it could be. The hotel doesn't have a heated pool, and the pool water had some debris and wasn't very clean. If you're primarily looking for a great sea view, this hotel will meet your expectations.

Had a wonderful two-night stay at the hotel. The location is great, close to the city center with lots of good food options. Even though we booked the club lounge, we still ate out frequently. The views are beautiful, giving a real vacation vibe. Our butler, Mia, was incredibly responsive and provided excellent service. It's very close to the beach and has a good number of international guests, making for a very chill atmosphere overall. I'd love to come back and try a different room type in the future.

Overall, my stay was very pleasant, and I especially want to commend Annie for her excellent service. She was warm, attentive, and made me feel very comfortable. However, there are a few minor details I'd like to point out: the room lights occasionally turned off by themselves, the power box next to the toilet often made a 'clicking' sound, and the key card for the beach-facing door was sometimes a bit finicky, requiring multiple swipes. While these didn't spoil the overall experience, it would be even more perfect if they could be optimized. All in all, I had a great time. These minor issues don't detract from the overall positive experience, and I would definitely consider staying here again.

This was my first time staying here, and honestly, it felt more business-oriented than a true vacation spot. I encountered some critters like a spider in the bathtub, a gecko on the wall, and a rove beetle by the sink, which I guess is understandable given the location. The room itself is quite old and had a musty smell. I also noticed signs of past renovations, and one of the bedside lamps was broken. I didn't want to waste my time during my stay dealing with these minor issues, so unless there's a special circumstance, I probably won't be back. The executive lounge was convenient for grabbing a bite without leaving the hotel, though the food quality was just average, but the views were nice. Overall, it's about a 60/100, just passing, for reference.

InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort, nestled in Xiaodonghai, is a hidden gem that offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city. The location is very convenient, just a few minutes' taxi ride from the Dadonghai commercial area. Yet, as soon as you enter the hotel grounds, you're enveloped by lush tropical gardens, completely shielded from the urban clamor, creating a perfect vacation vibe. The hotel boasts a private beach with stunning jelly-blue waters. While there are quite a few rocks on the beach, you can go tide pooling during low tide. It's much less crowded than Dadonghai, allowing you to relax and enjoy the ocean views in peace. The rooms are spacious, even the standard ones. They come with private scenic balconies, and the sea-view rooms offer breathtaking views from their floor-to-ceiling windows. The bathtub facing the ocean adds a luxurious touch to your bath experience. The service is consistently excellent. The concierge and buggy service are prompt and responsive. Annie, our butler, provided thoughtful and attentive service. The mini-bar is replenished daily, and the welcome fruit is a nice touch. The dining options are plentiful. Breakfast offers a wide variety of choices until 11 AM, including freshly made noodles and an abundance of tropical fruits. The seaside restaurant offers seafood BBQ, where you can enjoy the sea breeze and watch the sunset – a truly wonderful experience. The hotel's spa also has a good reputation, and the treatments are incredibly relaxing.

Annie the housekeeper arranged a really great room for us. There were no issues with it being old; it was very well-maintained. The only thing I'd suggest is replacing the TV. It only offers live channels, no on-demand or screen mirroring, which is a bit of a bummer for those who like to relax in their hotel room. I'd also recommend improving the hotel breakfast; the variety is a bit limited. The hotel's public areas are excellent, and the 'glass sea' at Xiaodonghai is absolutely beautiful. Traveling during the off-season meant fewer people and much better service – it was very relaxing and enjoyable.
