It was a pleasant experience, the staff very helpful and efficient; breakfast was tasty and varied. The room had good dimensions for two people, a comfortable and spacious bed, plenty of storage space, very effective black-out curtains and was well air conditioned. The bathroom had a good shower, with great power and well regulated in terms of temperature. However, the soundproofing of the room could be better.

We had a great time during our 5 night stay at the Vila Gale Sintra. I’ll start with the pros of the resort. The property itself is beautiful. The pools, the scenery around the hotel are amazing. The family room layout was great for us. It was essentially what appeared to be what used to be two rooms combined into one. The large balcony was great for sitting out at night. The sunset was spectacular from our room. The kids activities were great as my kids got to enjoy the carousel, playground and trampoline park. Be aware though that they only open these at certain times throughout the day. The breakfast was great and had a ton of selections. There were a few cons, the first was the buffet dinner. It was quite expensive at 29 euros per person and the options werent great. They only really had one meat and one fish that they were cooking and there was a line to wait in if you wanted it. We only ate dinner there the first night. The room was partially refurbished. The carpet looked older and the sliding door within the room kept coming off the tracks. And the bathroom was a little odd in that the vanity was open to the rest of the room. So if someone needed to use the lights for it they would light potentially wake up the person in the room if they were sleeping. Then the WiFi, while it worked well for the most part, kept having to reconnect to the network. This happened on both my phone and iPad several times each day while I was there. The location of the hotel has its pluses and minuses. It is a quiet resort away from the city of Sintra. And it’s also located in a place that makes it easy to get to the beach and Colares. But there isn’t anything else right around the hotel so you need to rent a car or take an Uber to get around. We took and Uber and it did work pretty well. Nothing is within walking distance and the nearest bus stop is a 20-30 minute walk away.

It was a complete pleasure to stay st this wonderful hotel for many reasons. It’s location is simply fantastic within walking distance to everything. The rooms overlooking the beach are stunning. Rooms are spotless with excellent house keeping. Breakfast is a feast. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The cherry on the cake is it’s great value for money. This is a very mixed review. The hotel is beautiful overall and steeped in history. The public areas are very nice and there are lots of interesting corners to relax in. The breakfasts are excellent and the staff very pleasant. However, we booked a superior room which cost nearly 250 euros per night, and we did not enjoy a superior experience. The balcony terrace area was lovely, overlooking the forest, but despite there being plenty of room there were just two upright chairs out there. A table and sun loungers would have made it so much better and more comfortable. The room itself was small and dark, and the bathroom in dire need of renovation. There was a large crack in the basin and black marks in the bath, and everything just very tired. Because of this, it didn't feel very clean. The beds were uncomfortable with very bouncy mattresses, so we did not sleep well. We expected a lot more from such an expensive stay and the label 'superior room'. This was not a five-star experience.

Clean and very new room but if your idea is like ours and is looking for a pet friendly hotel I didn't like anything that puts that “can be charged**** supplements” you send a message to the hotel saying you're wearing two caniches toy, which I didn't have No answer, and after going up to the room and check in, tell me you need to talk to me, you charge me €20 per night with these two dogs, I understand they charge a supplement for them, but be clear in Booking.com and put your real price, because it is not the same to carry two 3kg toy canches each which do not release hair for their race, as a chowchow like that I saw in the reception, or a German pastor who if you have to have an extra cleaning for the hair topic, would not return for this topic, since at the end the price came out to me as a hotel in the centre of Lisbon with the same features.
