Pestana Sao Tome

Had a great stay. This is basically a 3.5 star type hotel. Restaurant is decent with a reliable breakfast buffet, available bar/cafe. The pool is quite nice, with towel service from the front desk. The hotel is ocean front (although the ocean is not really swimmable there, due to rocks and city pollution). The AC worked fine, the electricity was reliable, and bottled water was provided. It was easy walking distance to several restaurants (try the "O Pirata" for seafood!). It seemed safe to walk around the nearby town both night and day. There was free parking for our rented car. The front desk service was great. The misses: no room supplies for morning coffee or tea, no cups in the room for drinks, dated room and lobby furnishings, and slow/absent service at the indoor and outdoor bars during afternoon hours.

I stayed at the Pestana São Tomé. The hotel sent a shuttle to pick me up and the drive was ＜15 minutes with minimal congestion. Check in was easy. The receptionist spoke English & Portuguese and I was in my room in a few minutes: it had two doubles pushed together , a bathroom with a stand in shower in a tub. There was a balcony with a view of the ocean. There’s a nice pool, gym, spa, gift shop with local crafts. The restaurant served a buffet dinner starting at 7p with a reasonable selection and breakfast buffet was also good. I walked 20 minutes to the National Museum along the sidewalk that runs along the shoreline. Overall a good clean, safe hotel.

We stayed at the hotel for our last night. It was the badest Accommodation during our holiday opn Sao Tomé and Principe. According to its own information, the hotel is a 5-star hotel, but in my opinion, only the prices are 5-star. In reality, the hotel is a 3-star hotel at most. It is a typical tourist hotel, especially for groups. The hotel has seen better days. Our room was okay, but the bathroom looked a bit worn. As we were at the hotel on a Friday evening, there was only a buffet for dinner. The food was nothing special and some of it was cold. But the price was steep, i.e. grossly overpriced. The hotel doesn't even serve local beer, only imported beer from Portugal. The only good thing about the hotel was its location. It's within walking distance of the city centre, etc. and the nice employees at the reception. We won't be staying at this hotel again in future. The Omali Lodge is a much better option for staying in the city.
