There was a terrible smell in the room

my husband and i have had such success with Homewood Suites and H2. When i drove up, the layout of the hotel made me think “remodel”. please read on- i was not in any way disappointed. The lobby, which i did not see until the following morning due to easy on line checkin and room selection, was beautiful, spacious, well lit, and tastefully decorated. THE ROOM: The beds and bedding are always comfortable- as is here in Sarasota. On entering a room i quickly check these three things first before the bags come in the door: toilets flush and sink and shower drains (Yes!), hot water is hot (Oh Yes! and quickly, too) and AC works and is adjustable to lower temperatures for a good nights sleep (Perfect!). Another thing i’m kind of picky about is LIGHT, both from windows and in the bathroom for makeup application. Homewood gets a 100% - and in addition, there was overhead lighting over the bed, over the dining table, in the kitchen AND in the entry way, with 2 table lamps and a floor lamp next to the love seat to top all this brilliance off - Go Homewood! There was no odor in the room on entry other than it smelled clean. And there was a full length mirror next to the closet which is always nice to have. everything in the kitchen worked perfectly. I requested a change of sheets on day 2 and Gloria at the front desk was on it with a chipper smile. As was the housekeeper who made it happen. Omar assisted me with a late checkout in the same cheerful manner as Gloria. GROUNDS: i did not use the pool area but i watched others enjoy it from the workout room while riding the Peleton. Moving to and from my room to car, i noticed the grounds were well kept and i never saw any trash laying around. GYM: Yes, they have a Peleton here and it was in perfect working order and calibrated correctly! the workout room was small but compact- a full set of hand weights and at least two, maybe three treadmills, i forget, now. i did not see any yoga mats that could be used for a core routine or stretching. The peloton faced outward to the pool which was really delightful, the treads faced the opposite direction. Homewood also provided workout towels (yes, i've been in hotel gyms that did not provide towels, or water for that matter) Water AND disposable earbuds!! which i needed because my headphones broke right before this trip! Go Homewood! BREAKFAST: I cruised through the breakfast buffet one morning and saw that everything was well stocked and fresh. As a Lifestyle Medicine practitioner, and eat a whole food plant based diet, i find some buffets lacking in things that i can eat. Not here. There was a generous selection of fresh and cut fruit, oatmeal with all the trimmings like nuts and raisins, hard boiled eggs and the usual yogurt, milk, and juices. For the meat eaters out there, i did see sausage on someone’s plate but i did not take note of other items. however my meat eating husband is never disappointed and The breakfast buffet at all the H2

The outside of the facility is deceiving. It’s an old facility, BUT it is very clean and well kept. The inside looks remodeled. It is also very clean and well kept.

Wonderful stay from beginning to end. Didn't want to leave. Friendly staff, our room was lovely, pool and hot tub added to our stay. Breakfast and Wed. Happy hour were great. Recommend highly!

No trash barrel in our hotel room,

Morning, I need to share details of my recent poor performance. I checked in on Monday evening (3/25/24) and was assigned 201. I slept in this room until Tuesday. Tuesday upon returning to my room I noticed insect wings all over my nightstand by my bed. As I was trying to understand the source I noticed several live bugs flying and crawling on my lamp on the nightstand. In addition to the lamp these bugs were crawling in the hand wash sink outside the restroom. I immediately called the front desk and the gentleman changed my room to 204 which ended up reflecting the same pest control issues by the AC unit. Either way I had to change rooms twice and finally ended up in 211. This morning I woke up to another critters in the restroom. I did ask the rep on duty if he could leave a note for the General Manager to call me yesterday. I never received a call to follow up. Given this significant inconvenience I would expect some type of compensation. I attached the photos/videos. This hotel isn’t being maintained well.
