Unfortunately, our stay at St Brides was disappointing. We were really looking forward to a nights stay in luxury accommodation to end our holiday in West Wales however it fell short of expectations. Given how much they charge, the hotel rooms are starting to look tired and in need of freshening up. We paid for a double room and whilst the view was lovely they advertised all rooms to have amenities such as tea and coffee including a nespresso coffee machine. Our room did not have a nespresso machine, only packet instant coffee and two breakfast tea bags. There was a lack of atmosphere in the bar and the bar staff were unable to produce a cocktail/drinks menu when we asked for one saying they didn’t have any menus. The spa overlooking the bay was nice but a certain spa staff member was rude and seemed annoyed they had to show us around when we first arrived for our 90min session. The breakfast was average at best. The continental aspects were better with freshly made croissants and little pots of jam. However, the cooked breakfast was pretty awful, with hash browns that were clearly frozen and reheated multiple times making them a stale chewy texture. Something you would expect from a roadside cafe, not a 4 star hotel. Good points. The reception staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The views are pretty stunning and the location great. The spa itself was quiet and relaxing. However, it is definitely not worth the £250+ they charge for 1 nights stay. Hugely disappointing.
